car cooling so cool it goes back to warm up mode?

have any of you noticed this when your doing a midnight cruise and you lose full boost because water temp drops below 170? is this because the car thinks it still in warm up mode? i've noticed this while racing an is300 and one of those new volvo wagons wit turbo and btw i give the wagon props. they pretty quick, good family car. but have any of you guys noticed only getting the max of 8 lbs when your water temp is below 170? anything over 170 f will give me full boost. i just wanted to know if anyone had this same problem. thanks

I don't know how your FD is running below 170. Even on hiway, I think it runs hotter than that. Maybe someone stuck a 160 thermostat on your car which isn't always a good idea.

from the factory, i think the RX7 uses a 180F thermostat.

you 'could' have a lower temp one. Also where did you mount the temp sensor??
