SR Indigo Pulley Kit

Just installed the kit. Main-WP-Alt
Shipped with the wrong set of belts.

FYI IMHO.
The WP was designed wrong. The bevel was done with a conservative angle not considering the oem coolant hose and clamp for clearance.
The clamp right now sits at the bottom point of contact between the hose and clamp......only half of the clamp is providing pressure ...this concerns me....this gives me a clearance of paper thickness..no exaggeration...

Contemplating on returning them..anyone have any solutions...cable ties ?

Ordered the samco coolant hoses....if i recall correctly, they are thicker than the oem hoses....which i know will definitely NOT work with this pulley kit...

Im not saying you installed it wrong because there isn't a wrong way to really put the kit on, but mine went on fine without a glitch. Fit and finish are perfect. Maybe you got a defective pulley....Call Ray, he's a good guy and will stand behind his products.

All the aftermarket wp pulleys are larger than stock and appear to be a problem when first installed. The fit is tight but if the clamp is adjusted it should clear. The only issue I have seen that resulted in contact with the hose turned out to be an old factory coolant hose that was starting to swell in diameter ... the aftermarket wp pulley was rubbing the hose and had made a small groove in it. New hose and by comparison there was lots of clearance.

a combination of slight twisting of the hose and readjustment of the clamp provided for a hairline gap...it wasnt enough to make me feel at ease so i filed a portion of the clamp to create a little more security...
thanks for all the replies....

I'm seeing the same problem with my Indigo kit as well, and have a fairly new radiator hose.

I bought the kit used many months ago, and it has just sat until now, when I've found I need to do a whole bunch of maintenance on the car, so I'm installing it "while I'm in there" as they say...

My solution will probably be to go with a t-bolt clamp or similar that isn't as thick as the stock clamp.

I have a new problem, and I'll insert it here, since it probably should stay archived with this thread (there is another thread or two that are similar, but I think this one applies best, since it is the same brand pulley kit):

I want to run the engine without the airpump (well at least temporarily).

This is part of the maintenance I'm doing -- I need to trace down an exhaust leak in the turbine area, and not having the airpump in the engine bay would be an enormous help.

Anyone know off-hand what size belt or part number to run the Indigo pullies without the airpump?

I hear about a 29-29.5" belt is correct. Can anyone confirm or deny?

I'll measure it tonight before heading out to the parts store, where they usually hate it when I tell them not to look in the computer for the part I need .

Regards,
--Ashraf

I was using the Pettit TKT Pulley Kit (which is designed to keep the airpump) and then added the Air Pump Removal Pulley Kit from Rotary Performance (it's just the Alt and WP pullies with a belt sized for a stock main pulley).

Since the belt wasn't going to work with the Pettit main pulley, I measure and it was about 29" (where the RP belt was about 31"). I was only able to find a 28.5" locally and it barely got on there. Since the SR Pulley kit is the Alt, WP and Main pulley, it should be about the same size so 29-29.5" should work.

Just in case, take a string and run it around the pulleys to measure the length you need.
