Squeaks, Chirps, Rattles and Airboxes?

Just wanted a diagnosis. Here are the symptoms.

1) A slight chirping coming from just below the windshield. Very faint at idle RPM's. Seems to get louder as the RPM's go up, but when I put it in neutral and coast at higher speeds, the chirping stays loud. I believe it has to do with the state of the road. When I go over small bumps in the road (usually at higher speeds) the chirping becomes louder.

2) A rattle coming from the back left side of the rear hatch. The trunk release is already taped up, and I even insulated the tools for changing the spare tire. It almost sounds like the glass is loose (I know it is not).

Now a mod related question.

Firstly, I have no current mods. Can I just drop in a modified airbox w/ 2 K&N cone filters, and a downpipe w/o remapping the ECU? I know the "limit" is 3 mods, but that seems like general speculation versus confirmed fact.

Thanks for the help.

Rev. Steve

You should be fine with those two mods.

I had a downpipe and the APEXi intake on my car for close to a year without an issue. You should be fine with those two mods. But get a boost gauge and make sure you're not spiking or creeping at all. Every car is different, so your turbos might respond differently than mine did. I had no spiking or creeping, but my turbos had ~100k miles on them at the time.

How many miles do you have? That may be why things are rattling.

I have the same window squeak/chirp from the windshield. I've discovered that the dash has lifted up a bit and now makes contact with the windshield. This occurs at the point where the passenger side A-pillar meets the dash.

The chriping is coming from the dash rubbing against the windshield.

I'm going to try and remove the A-pillar and see if I cant get the dash to stick back down.

the chirping/rattling could be the hood/hatch need to have the latches adjusted down a little due to body seals/rubber bump stops collapsing over time

My hood hinges chirp. A shot of WD40 solves the problem, but have needed to do this several times.
