Speed diff between T-78 and twins
Ok I know there is say an 80 hp diff or so between a t-78 and the stock twins running at 15 lbs. I'm estimating 350 and 430. this includes all the other bolt ons...but what I am wondering is how much faster a t78 would be. say in a race through 4th gear, about 125. how many cars??? or just a 1 gear race on the highway, 70-125???

impossible to answer. there are too many variables. dont think that you can just bolt on a T-78 and expect to be fast.
put it this way....an nicely set up single turbo FD can destroy almost everything on the street other than a Hennessey 650R or 800 Viper, or a 700+ RWHP single turbo Supra. youll even kill sport bikes from a roll. (notice how i said from a roll. you will not stand a chance off the line.)

I can beat sport bikes from a roll w/o a t-78. I would just like to know how bad of a whooping would I get if I raced a an rx-7 with 430 hp. Say i have 350. thanks

OK, JoeD said it nicely and now I'm just gonna come right out and say it like I do -- STOP BENCH RACING.
How is someone supposed to answer this? The has never been a study where a few guys got together and said "Hmmmmm ... let's go to the street and tune a stock twin FD to 350 and a T-78 FD to 430 and race them from zero through 4th gear or through 4th gear from 70-125 and endanger everyone just so that we measure how badly the T-78 FD cleans it's *** with the stock twin FD by car lengths so that when someone asks for these exact numbers without regard for other conditions we'll have them for that one guy that asks."
I really hope you don't qualify every horsepower rating by quantifying numbers. Every 350 is not the same.

Your bodykit will also slow you down. I remember reading about a FD with 320 rwhp stock twins in seq mode running a T-78 at like 12 psi (not sure) but I think he had around 430 rwhp. They raced a few times. Once from a stop and the stock twin FD stayed with him until mid 3rd gear. They raced again from a roll 60 mph?? and the stock twin FD pulled a car for a second then the t-78 put about 8 cars on it up to the end of 4th. All the numbers aren't exact but T-78 aren't 0-60 cars, they are highway monsters and if tuned correctly can be basically unbeatable - even by fast bikes. T-78s are nice but take a while to spool - I'd take a XS T04 hybrid (water cooled) - one day

Thankyou Barry. That was exactly what I was looking for.
DK, Now was that so impossible for someone to answer?
about the body kit I don't think it makes much of a difference if any at all. A lot of stuff was taken off the car when the kit was put on. I think it actually weighs a few lbs less now. There's a slight wind resistance diff, with the wide body and the spoiler but I don't think enough to make much of a diff. Its the stock r1 spoiler.

to answer the question, a properly set up T-78 will be A LOT faster than stock twins.

T-78 is a lag monster...I drove one and hated it....sure, it pulls like stink on the highway, but unless you are on the desert salt flats it's pretty much useless....a good midsize single like a T04 or garrett T-66 is a much better street solution imo....still delivers about 400 hp...anymore than that is just overkill for the street and unreliable anyway

pweizman:
1. I can't beleive i forgot my favorite mod...I use a tuned power fc.
2. Yeah I'll try to post some pics. My car is black so it is a little hard to see the kit and also the pics are from a little too far away. It's the mazdaspeed hood, widebody, side skirts, r1 spoiler, and the front end is the knightsport 4 fog with those big blue projector piaa's that come on the mercedes m-class in the holes.
