I had a SPEC Stage 2 clutch before and loved it. Before that I went through a centerforce clutch as well as a "10% over stock" junk clutch. Don't know how it compares to ACT, probably about the same but having used SPEC before and knowing I'm more than satisfied with it, I will be using them whenever possible for sure in the future. Also the rx7store.net car uses a SPEC Stage 3 I believe in their shop car(506rwhp).

When doing clutch research i've never heard nothing bad about spec what so ever. I was going to use it over the ACT.

i've just recently noticed them on rx7store... black99, did it have a pretty stock feel to it? i'm going to have to purchase a new clutch this month and was thinking the stage 2 because its only like $20 more than the stage 1 but has better heat dissapation. i daily drive my car though, so i need something with a nice smooth engagement and not "too" much pressure required. could you elaborate on your experience? thanks much

I had a 4 puck sprung hub one on my old FD and loved it. Going to use it again on this one. Jason recommended it when I got it and I fallow his advise, I have nothing bad to say about it.

Awesome clutch, originally got it waaaaaaaaaayy back when only BNR Supercars only carried Spec clutches for FD's.(like 2 years ago). While my car was down for a bit before I installed the clutch, I didn't notice any signifigant pedel pressure had to be used over stock and it didn't feel notchy at all. In fact I let my girlfriend drive the car a couple times to work and back and no complaints from her either. It held non seq., full exhaust, ecu, etc @15 psi with some major beating very very well. I too went with the Stage 2 because it was only a few $ more than the Stage 1 and rated for a couple more rwhp. BTW, SPOautos I believe had a Stage 3 too.

been selling Spec cluthces for Supercharged S2Ks for many years, and everyone loves them. Also they have an option to lighten the pressure plate, which I havent seen from other manufacturers. They have the ability to make iron discs too. I will replace mine with a Spec when the time comes

I like the Spec line....like black99 mentioned I've been runing one on my fd for around 2-3 years now, prob has 20K miles or nore and still looks great. I've heard they have a new disc out that can hold 500lbs of tq and feel almost as good as stock...amazing. I was the first one to run one on the forum, Byran from BNR got it for me, he's friends with the ownders of Spec.

Anyway, its a nice product. Oh yea, the other good thing is when its worn out you can have it resurfaced for like $100-$200 depending on the surface you have.

Thanks, but there are so many shops that claim their products are great and they actually suck. I want to know from real life experiences if these clutches are holding up on the track and is comfortable driving around town. Basic street driving is one thing, but taking it to the track is a completely different story. For example, Centerforce sucks for the track.

I think it's best for legal purposes to call it the "rx7 store project car"... But I assume Jason takes the job as pilot..

On the abusing a SPEC clutch thing. While I never tracked my car, nor did it make any huge amounts of power it was put through the paces pretty well. No, not any clutch drops or anything but any clutch can fail under that. I was probably only in the low 300ish-rwhp. SPOautos/Jason have probably put their cars through the paces alot more than me though and for sure made more HP.

On drivability, like I said my girlfriend who is 5'3" and pretty much a "Ouch I broke a nail*crying*" kind of a girl could drive the car without any problem or any complaints of clutch stiffness. This was with the stage 2 after right after I installed it. If my pampered g/f can drive it, then believe me your grandma could drive it.

ok so i got my car back today. the clutch feels as soft as stock. i cant put it to the test yet because i need to break it in. i also installed a light flywheel. i can tell there is quicker responce off of that, but i havent brought it over 3.5k rpms yet. also put in some royle purple tranny oil which feels very smooth. i would suggest this clutch to anyone. before this i had an act clutch on my previous fd and it is a heavier feel to it, and didnt grab as sharp.

I have a Spec Stage 3 clutch. It feels great with a very nice pedal pressure. It is a bit unforgiving (come out a little too fast and you'll look like an ***), but I like it a lot and definitely recommend it. I haven't had it at the track yet, but I imagine it will hold well at 16 psi. Now at 20 psi, if it starts slipping, I will have a good problem on my hands
