which spark plug wires...
I'd recommend the stock NGK wires. On all the aftermarket ones I've seen, the boots never fit properly. I'm using the Jacobs ones now, and next time I'll be going back to stock, unless I see some data that tells me otherwise.
The NGK are good, but I went with the Jacobs wires. Very nice set.

I'm hoping the long run will be just as good as the short run.

what about magnecor guys? im about to buy a set of wires too and i want magnecor. is there any reason that nobody has posted anything about them. i read up on them and it all seemed positive. whats the deal?
They only add HP if your old wires are worn out. I doubt if there is much power difference between brands, including the stock NGKs. I think more expensive wires may have longevity as their only benefit (assuming more expensive is better).
I have used the Taylor wires and they are nice and a good deal; I would get them again. Magnecores are excellent wires, but I have heard some complaints about how the boots fit. It used to be that there weren't many aftermarket wires available, but I guess all the major companies realized the profit potential of making some short little FD wires. I think there are a lot of sound choices now.
My favorite wires ever were the Racing Beat Ultra wires that I got from MazdaTrix for my old T2. They were very well made and the silicone material they used seemed better than any other wires I have seen. I might get some Ultra wires for my FD when my current closeout bargain Crane wires get old.

i use the MSD 8.5 superconductor set. it is a little bit of work to get the boots to sit properly, but once you are done, you know how hard it is going to be for them to shake off. i got them for only 41 bucks plus shipping from www.summitracing.com , which is the cheapest ive seen them anywhere.
i had crane cam wires, never again, sucked. went back with the factory ngk's. cant beat the quality and fit, or price. 40 bucks for something that you know will work, you dont want to have to do this swap twice. scott
i think i am just gonna go with the NGk's. You know they fit and there is noit gonna be any hassle. If a more expensive wire only offers longevity and appearance it is not worth it for me.
thanks for all the responses.

I'm using the Magnecor 8.5mm wires. I've been using it for about 4 to 5 years and never experienced any problems with the wires. My RX-7 is also daily driven. I'm going to replace them next week with Magnecor 10mm wires.
Also, at the time when I purchased these wires I called Pettit Racing and they told me that these wires are awesome for the FD and so far they are right.

go with the mazda OEM wires that came with the car. Its NOT NGK. its ome jap brand. the ngk are dealer replacement. if i remember correctly the oem wires are like $170 bucks, while the ngk are $80 at the dealer.
I remember reading a while back that Magnecore wires lose more voltage per foot than others and that Accel wires actually performed quite well. That said, I just replaced Magnecores in my car with Accel and now I don't hear the whine through the radio that I used to get when using my CD-cassette adaptor and my diskman.

Racing wires will not supress alternator wine
(Nology, Magnecore, Racing Beat race, etc). Although Magnecore says they have eccelent suppression it didn't work well in my Honda (stock ignition). The do have "interesting" articles though. Click on "The truth about ignition wire conductors" and "FAQ" below but remember that they wrote it.

I don't understand the need for 10mm wires unless you have a high power ignition (MSD, HKS...etc).
Taylor Pro's handle more heat than Racing Beat Street wires and are less than 1/2 the cost. Vitek cost the same as Magnecores, but handle twice as much heat as Taylor Pro's!

hey you guys wanna be able to change your plugs without haveing to get under the car. if you have an Advance Auto Parts store anywhere around you go and check out there tools. they have them on display in front of the store. it is a 72 tooth 3/8 in. drive stubbed handle socket wrench. i got it just to see if it would be okay. man, that thing is awesome!! if you hate getting under your car to change these out then you need to get this tool. it is awesome. spark plug changes take about 10-15 minutes now. . . total!!
