Some weird Hesitation

Hey guys here are the specs for my FD.

Downpipe
midpipe
3' HKS super Dragger cat back
And cold air intake

So just recently the car has been hesitating in 2nd, and around 5-6k RPM.

It will pull right up to 5k And then total power loss, and it backfires. this dosent happen all the time.I Checked the MAP sensor, it's hooked up correctly. Im not sure what would be causing this. Also the weather here just turned to quite cold, so im not sure if that would be the cause of anything, which i doubt also. And yes i let the car warm right up before i do any heavy boosting.

Any help would be awesome!

Do you have a boost gauge, and can we assume your using the oem ecu? Sounds like fuel cut from over boosting.

+1 on the fuel cut for too high a boost level

+2 on fuel cut - here's a chart on what boost levels will trigger fuel cut.

You need to get a boost gauge to see what boost you are getting, get a boost controller to keep the boost below the levels shown in the chart, and either port your wastegate to handle the MP, or restrict the exhaust to get rid of the boost creep (search).

Ok so in order to read that chart there, anything over those levels on a stock ecu will result in a fuel cut out?

eg 12 psi @ 6000 rpm will result in cut out?

Nominally, yes. There is a bit of a delay before cut occurs, so you COULD get detonation and blow an apex seal before the stock ECU can react and cut off the fuel.

ok, so its fuel cut, i thought maybe just need a stronger fuel pump. But would this solve my issue. And yes i have a boost gauge, but it didnt seem to go over 10PSI.

Its almost time to park the beast anyways, ill be putting a Petit Intercooler in, a Power FC, and fuel pump this winter.

Thanks for all who helped out .

The 10-psi max might be due to a long, thin tube from the boost source to the gauge causing a delay, so you don't see the real max boost. And, with the stock ECU, a stronger pump may pump a bit more fuel, but will not prevent fuel cut.

i only thought that fuel cut accurs once the car is going to over boost, or about to over boost.
The weird thing is that i am only at 7PSI. Im no where near the 11PSi or 13 PSI Fuel cut.

---Mods on my JDM 92'

-Intake, with Heat shield box
-Downpipe
-Resonated MidPipe
-HKS Super Dragger Exaust
-PFC on its way

Could it be a bad fuel pump, or fuel filter maybe?

Any insight to this would be appreciated.

-Mark
