wow i couldnt imagine selling my FD.

 

if you had any mods at all, the S2000 will feel like the wheezing little 4 banger it really is

with just a Pettit ECU and exhaust I stomped those things with incredible ease

nothing else on the road compares for less than about $40k

 

Get an RX-8 to replace it.

with the FD, not only are you dealing with an old car with misc things failing, but you are also dealing with an inefficient and unreliable power plant..some people may say otherwise but we all know..even newly rebuilt engines come out as problems..its like winning the lotto with these cars, sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not..

and nothing else on the road compares for less than 40K? new or used? used z06 will STOMP, completely STOMP the fd back to its little grave for less than 40k..and IMO, the evo comes really close..

 

bs...the current Z06 will not stomp my BNR equipped FD, I will easily run those things

as far as reliability, I'm going through just about everything....PFC, wideband, 3 mm seals, engine mounts, trans, electrical, non seq turbos etc etc to be sure the car is relaible

vettes are boooring, so are F bodies, Mustangs, and S2000s

 

yeah and throw a 20b in it. Squash everything else. Stay rotary powered. Are they gonna make a renesis rotary Mx-5, cause those look bad! like a mini version of the FD but modernized. Hard Top and 13b or 20b. You will have one of the baddest cars out. just my .02

 

you cant compare really but i did just because you said anything under 40k cant compare and then i used the z06..

the z06 is a higher end sports car..the c5 and especially the c6 will outrun the FD stock..sure you car can outdo the z06, you have mods..i could spend about 50k into a civic and prob outrun the z06 too but you are forgetting it can do it all stock..

and reliabilty? i dont want this thread to turn into 50 pages about it..we all know what makes an FD "more" reliable but still NOT as reliable as a z06, stock and even modded..

but its all personal preference, i personally love the z06's, even though its just another "vette" on the road..when you're thinking its just the base vette and get your *** handed to you, then you'll be like, "o, thats prob a z06"..lol

 

vettes are boring, they're everywhere and it's always some mid 40s redneck driving one....not saying they aren't great cars, they are, but the FD is UNIQUE, and it will always be unique, and damn sexy looking

plus that it shocks the **** out of just about everything in my town and terrifies ricers...I love the stealth factor

 

o of course, the FD was ahead of its time in style and just overall ability..just today, i had 2 people complement me when i was washing my car..but i was talking about numbers..

Yeah the ZO6 may be better stock, but look at the tuning and factory specs on what they do to their engines before they hit the road. Now imagine if Mazda did the same for 7's and 8's.

Couldn't have said it better. I may not have the fastest car on the street, but my FD turns more head than ANY other street car, outside the "exotics". Funny thing is that I get the most attention from the STI and EVO drivers. Their cars MIGHT be faster, but my FD is FAR MORE sexier and a hell of alot rarer.......

 

so now people are only getting FD's because its rare?? LOL

Well I just meant that I see vettes on the street everyday, I honestly don't notice what kind they are, unless it's an antique. Maybe it's because I'm more of an RX-7 nut that sports car nut. I just spent the last week in Orange County CA, I saw TONS of Porsches(and I couldn't tell you what kind they were, but they all seemed fairly new), but no 7's. I bought my FD because it's a great looking car and has a unique engine. The fact that it's a high performance car is just a bonus to me. I've always been attracted to things, ideas, people that are just a bit different. Just my $0.02.....

 

 

An example of how "rare" it is can be seen in the 2003 production year; 8,635/35,469 (24%) were Z06s. "Rare" is somewhat of a subjective term. Where I live, 1 out of 4 C5s that I see are Z06s. IMO, that isn't terribly rare. I do see at least one a day.

In any case, the Z06 is a fantastic vehicle. The LS1/LS6 has to be one of my favorite motors of all time. An all aluminum pushrod motor that can toss down ~500RWHP N/A and still be able to be utterly reliable is a winner in my book.

 

I have seen far more Z06's around than FD's, I'm talking like a 5:1 ratio here.

I'm going to be honest with you, no matter how fast a Corvette is, it's still a Chevy, and it's still built like ****. As soon as I sat in one I wanted to vomit. The interior was absolutely horrible, and the build quality was shotty at best.

The LS1/6 is an awesome powerplant, no doubt, but it's just whats built around it that is the problem.

 

that's because you're using two examples of ugly cars. of course no one would give them a double take!

 

i have seen 7 z06 and almost 10 C5 in NY passing by and ive only seen 2 FDs.

 

Jim promptly sold his Z06 after owning it for about a year (maybe)? he didn't seem all that enthused about it, maybe he will comment

the new one looks stunning, I must say....but at the price of admission there should be far less of them on the road (at least at first)

 

i agree. the new Z06 looks amazing. I've seen a few around Ann Arbor (mostly because that's where Motor Trend and Automobile are based), and it's damn sexy. At first i had only seen them from the front, and the CF fenders are beautiful from the front. then, just the other day, I saw one from the rear, HOLY DAMN! sexy as hell.
