That's really odd. I usually see at least one a day. When I lived in San Luis Obispo, I used to see at least 2-3 on the highway (during the weekends). Aside from the two in my garage, I have only seen one FD in town within the past 60 days, which had Oregon plates(I drive ~400mi a week).

I'm going to be honest with you, no matter how fast a Corvette is, it's still a Chevy, and it's still built like ****. As soon as I sat in one I wanted to vomit. The interior was absolutely horrible, and the build quality was shotty at best.

The LS1/6 is an awesome powerplant, no doubt, but it's just whats built around it that is the problem.
Wow this is the most outrageous post I have seen in a while. Mainly the "it's still a Chevy, and it's still built like ****." If chevy makes such pieces of ****, why do you think they are currently DOMINATING the LeMans series. Oh yea they have kinda had that whole thing in the bag for the last few years with a few exceptions.

I would love you to actually take a ride in a well modded z06 and then get your opinions. Just because you cant afford one, there is no reason to be jealous.

I agree Vettes suck...the last Vette gearbox I felt was less refined than the gearbox I had in a Civic at the time....they're fast with big unsophisticated engines....and the 2006 has leaf springs in the rear ...LEAF SPRINGS....if you want cubic inch power, and handling that's only good because of huge rubber, then get a Vette....a Vette and an RX7 have nothing in common as far as I'm concerned....and when people say this is faster, that is faster......is everyone talking 1/4 mile or something? we need to be more specific when we talk about a car being faster.....an RX7 is not a 1/4 mile car....it's a track champ and if you don't drive it like one, then that's just sad.....it's a perfectly balanced car with brilliant styling, great cantre of gravity....listen as far as FD vs S2000 it's not even close....I have bolt ons only and I eat my friend's S for lunch with complete ease...it's not even competition for me....actually it's almost embarrassing....and he's a great driver....and handling, even against an S....we had some chases through the city....the whole time I thought we were having some moderate driving....when we got back to my house he told me he was almost losing it around almost all the corners we took and my car in front of him looked like it was glued to the road...he's afaid of my car and he should be......we're here to celebrate FDs....don't insult them by comparing them to cars that don't even match up...and the STi thing.....I don't even like AWD.....it's not the perfect platform......plus they're ugly,...they quite simply are not sports cars...they are fast, fast sedans....I don't like them...an RX7 is the perfect platform...it's all about the perfect platform of a sports car....50/50, low centre of gravity....if something is faster than what's under the hood of a stock 7, then you have a perfectly balanced car to modify and make faster.....doesn't that make sense?? Built up properly, you can basically beat anything in an RX7.......a Civic someone mentioned???? see that makes no sense....you can give that Civic 600 HP if you want but how are you going to beat the 7 in and out of corners...with FWD??? It's not a sports car. 7s RULE!

Haha, oh my god. I was wrong about my comment earlier...This is the most outrageous comment I have ever seen. You have to be the most ignorant person I have encountered in a very very long time. If you truely believe that the new Z06's motor, the LS7, is an unsophisticated motor you truely have no clue what you are talking about. Did you know that this motor from the factory is hand built by one individual? Its a small block 427. Thats a miriacle in it self. I could go on and on for hours about this amazing motor. Do you honestly believe that Chevy, a multi multi billion dollar company, who has a staff of some of the best engineers in the world would put leaf springs on their performance car and have the car not handle well? Of course they wouldnt do this with out good reason.

Have you ever noticed that in the track videos that get posted on this forum (let it be by Damian or Fritz) the cars that they often run into problems with at the track are Z06's. They are far superior track cars than FD's. Sure FD's are great, but theyre dated now. They are a great sports car for the money.

It drives me nuts when people like you make uneducated comments. Sure you dont have to like them, but to go as far as saying theyre pieces of crap, theyre barbarric, they cant handle, etc. is just insane. Why dont you go surf around a little bit, maybe you will realize how much of an *** you made of yourself.

This whole argument is stupid! Just like I tell most of my STI owning friends, I wouldn't give anything to drive their cars, nor a zo6. Not even like a penny or a half a meatball sub. It's all preference! The zo6 is impressive though; too bad the interior was designed by playschool. Oh yeah and I see about 6 zo6's to 1 fd on the road if that.

Right... because GM is doing sooooo well right now, please. Who gives a flying **** about LeMans... I'll tell you, it's not Joe Average car buyer.

Where in my post did I say that a Z06, stock or modded, was slow? I never said that, if you learn to read you can see I questioned the BUILD quality, not the PERFORMANCE. A large portion of the market cares a lot more about the quality of the product than how fast it can run the 1/4 mile or go around a track.

Do me a favor, read this before you talk about how great Chevy is...

LOL alright alright....I admit I was playing some Devil's advocate there....when I signed back in I was actually smiling because I knew someone would rip into me....but I sort of mean most of what I said...I don't think I said a Vette is a piece of crap though did I....it's not....I mean it depends what you're talking about....would I drive one if someone gave it to me? Sure...although I'm not 58 years old like most Vette owners.
Ummmm excuse me you cannot win the LEAF SRPING conversation. LEAF SPRINGS LMFAO. Pathetic. I'm gonna spend 70 grand on a car and get leaf springs? Jesus. The last Civic I had had race-inspired double wishbone for God's sake. You said "GM had a reason" blah blah....that's the second time there's been an emotional defence for this massive corporation "they're the biggest" etc. You know how any company becomes that huge? By gouging it's consumers and giving it to you up your ***. Hence the CHEAP *** leaf springs that cost nine dollars to put on that car. Profit margin, guys. I have a 1979 Dodge Aspen R/T with LEAF SPRINGS. Enough said.
I read no response about gearboxes. Why can't GM make a gearbox for a car that's worth 70 G that feels as slick as an Acura that cost 25 G?

Take a fraction of that cash spent on that Vette, put it into an FD and the winner is clear. When you say "RX7" there really are very few examples in production car history that can own an FD on a track. You think a Vette would handle like it does with the rubber that's on an RX7? All the pure, true track cars have not depended on wide rubber to handle. They have more pure sports car qualities that make them handle. As these cars get a little less current and their stock horsepower numbers get a little less impressive, it's called mods. Like I said before the RX7's platform is PERFECT. It isn't good or really good or great. It's perfect. I challenge you to criticize the platform of an FD. Once made faster (meaning more rwhp) than stock, the car is unstoppable. And you'd be nowhere near what you spent on the Vette. BTW....why don't you just find a Vette forum

Wow. Some of you are just unbelievable.

Stupid leaf springs...

Until you've driven a Z06, you cannot comment on it's handling capabilities.

I'll publish the selling price when I have the money in my account.

I just realized that I wasn't going to make big power (500+ whp) without a lot more work, and even then, I'd be driving a ticking time bomb. It was a great car, but I'm just ready for a change.

To all you Vette, Z06 lovers I think you will all have to admit that 87T2 is right on this one. The LS6/7 on vettes or Z06's are no doubt an awesome engine. Why do you think we put it in our 7's sometimes? But I think what 87T2 is referring to is the inside build quality of american cars, particularly GM. The interior quality is horrible. The plastic they use is of low quality, plus the panel gaps are awful! I will have to agree that my wife's 2002 Honda Civic has better interior quality that almost all american made vehicles, particulary GM. I don't knowwhat it is about them... they never change it, after all the negative input from folks such as Car and Driver.

Another thing about GM... did you guys ever notice how almost every GM truck with the daytime running lights has 1 burnt out??? I mean on a brand NEW truck/suv. Sad... Engines good, but interior and build quality, BAD.

so to sum it up---Vettes: fast (no ****...who said they weren't? not me, leaf spriings, shitty interiors that look like a 6 year old made it and gearboxes that feel like a Uhaul) If you want one or already have one, then go drive it and stop talking to RX7 people. You'd never find me in a Vette forum talking to anybody for any reason. If Vette's are so much better in some people's minds, I really don't get why you're in here. I don't chat in forums for cars I believe to be inferior to my favourite car, so why do you Vette guys do it?

If someone tossed me the keys to a Z06 I wouldn't toss them back. But my poor college kid *** is happy with his FD. Bang for the buck, ladies.

Glad to see you got your vette. (Or soon to be for that matter) I saw your thread over on z06vette.com. I hope you have a great time with a great car. Ive always been a fan of your FD, its my background actually.

Larz: Well said. It is all about bang for the buck. I dont have the money for a Z06, but if I did I would totally own one....Along with my FD.

FD's are great cars, dont get me wrong. Why else do you think I own one and deal with all of its ****? But they arent the best sports car in the world by any means. For the money they are.

If they were the PERFECT platform, why doesnt every race team have one?

You people see to keep bringing up the vette's interior...Have you seen the FD's interior? Why arent you ragging on its cheap plastic, and numerous rattles?

Or the T-56 tranny...Maybe you guys didnt know that it can 700+ hp...Sure it may be a little sloppy, but I could deal with that if it had such potential.

^ also have you noticed the badly faded headlight covers? especially on fords. i seem them often on GMs too. GMs also have crappy paint jobs, just look at the orange peel.
