So, The Results Are In

Ok, Just got back from KDR, Dave did his magic again and got my car to put down 253rwhp on the stock twins at 10psi and 283rwhp at 12psi (I'm running the stock intercooler so gonna run the 10psi for most of the time and 12psi on cool nights only). Currently I'm running:

Stock engine with stock ports, stock injectors and fuel system
RX7.com downpipe
Bonez high flow cat
Racing Beat Catback
Pettit TKT Intake
Koyo Radiator

Very happy with the results, now when I get the intercooler I can get some injectors and a fuel pump on there and 300+whp here I come. Actually love the way the setup sounds to, very subtle at idle and city driving, but the thing screams at WOT.

Dave is the man!

"Stage 1: 300 RWHP Upgrade Package.

Catback Exhaust System, Intake system, Apex Power FC, Downpipe."

From Rx7store.net....
Is that BS or does the PFC make that big of a difference? Ive always been curious where I sit with HP and might get a GTECH soon, but I have all the mods the store lists excluded the cat back right now. Also with new injectors you will have to buy a new ECU correct? Anyways nice numbers and drive safe man, how often are you hearing WOT?

Dont foget to get a good ignition setup. you will need it once you start raising your boost levels.

That could be true, it depends entirely on how high they are running boost. Granted, with those mods I wouldn't think you'd be able to run that much higher than stock.

PFC really helps. The stock ECU wont be able to handle all the mods. I believe you should be able to see a bit better numbers with your current mods and the PFC plus I think they are on sale right now for under 1k.

Hey, thanks for the replies guys. Yeah, to be honest, I think you can get 300whp out of this setup, but I don't think that's really reliable without an upgraded intercooler. Dave basically broke it down for me:

Typically you do not want to push the car with air intake temps of over 50-60C (if you're over 60C, you're getting into the danger zone). The intercooler helps a LOT with that, but since I am running the stock intercooler, it takes a hell of a long time after for the intakes temp to cool off on a hot day, Most of the day I was actuall off the boost because I kept waiting for my water temps and air intake temps to be just right ( must have boosted a total of 5 times the entire day). From what Dave told me, once you get an aftermarket intercooler on there, that'll change quite a bit.

You can get 300+whp, but to reliably run it, you'd need:

intake (preferrably cold air) ($400)
high flow cat, ($500)
downpipe ($300)
catback ($600)
intercooler ($1000-$1200)
upgraded injectors (and preferrably an upgraded fuel pump) ($???)
Power FC set to 15lbs boost (and tuned!) ($1000)

Without the intercooler, I was pushing 253whp at 10psi and 283 at 12psi, so I was getting about 15hp per pound of boost, so if you were to go to 15psi, add another 45hp on top of the 283 (which becomes 328) and add another 10hp for the intercooler, so that runs you at about 338whp.

Thanks for the warning guys, yeah I definately almost pissed myself yesterday coming from a dead stop to 60 at WOT, the car gripped all the way through but I definately didn't expect the speed. Thanks guys, will definately watch it.

You wont make 338 on that setup man. Once you start to get higher that 13 psi in the stock twins...they start making less power than 15hp per psi as you are seeing. Im sure you can see 300..but over 330 with that is pushing it. And get a power fc in there and send it to ray at PFS...guarenteed he can get more power...hes a great guy too. Good luck
