So i added the DP....well...just read.

I added the DP today.. and it wasent to bad of an install. The main issue i had was one of the studs would not budge.. I tried for over an hour using PB. I finaly got pissed and took a vice grip to it... Still wouldnt move because i couldnt get an angle on it. so i ended up pulling of the Y pipe then i used a pipe wrench and some elbow grease. Got it out. drove around for an hour to find some strong bolts to use ( ended up using 10mm allen (sp?) head bolts. Then i go to mount the dp to the stock cat and find that the dp dosent match!!!! it seemed as thought the dp was clocked a little to far and the stock cat studs would not line up with the dp. so i said **** this ****, and took out the stock cat and used the mid pipe ( yes i know i need a PFC or sometime of managment ). got it mounted.. started the car... jeeeeeeeeeessssssssus christ it sounded like a mac truck starting.. I dont see how people can stand how loud it is.. i took it for a drive watching the boost guage very close.. 5lbs.......10lbs..... then it SHOT to 17lbs and i backed off... So needless to say im taking off the midpipe and putting back on the stock cat.. 1 because its to ******* loud for me.. and 2 ( main reason ) is because i dont feel safe without tuning, and i dont like running it after i saw how bad the boost creep is. Tomorrow when i add the cat back on ill figure out someway to get it to fit.. maybe i will have to take out the trust dremel..

Do what I did. Stick a hi flow cat-converter on the MP. It will lower the exhaust Dbs and still flow better than your stock main-cat.

wait you had the stock cat back with a DP and MP right. i am the same i think the car after the MP was like 2 DB louder with the stock cat back you must have a big exhaust leak!

Is that the Megan Racing DP/MP combo? If so I had the same problem! All you need to do is get some one to grab the cat/cb and twist it a bit and it will fit right on. It might also help to loosen the DP at the Manifold a bit. Good luck!

Also do you have any type of boost controller? The urge to put my mp on came across me but I resisted. I'm still wondering if I can put it on w/out a computer and still keep the boost at 10psi. I have read many mixed reviews about it.

Anyways good luck again. If all else fails the dremel will save the day!

Mitch

*edit* I just saw your post saying its a RB dp/mp/cb I would still try twisting the exhaust in the hangers a bit it might just make it w/out having to dremel.

i would NOT reccomend installing the MP untill you have an aftermarket ECU.. The boost was insane! how fast it krept up.

im running a straight pipe exhuast, dp, mp catback which is pretty much a open pipe and im getting 10-8-10 psi boost in all gears, what you have to do is just tune it via a boost controller.

BTW: MP is not that loud man, even driving around with just a dp aint that bad on a n/a rotary (i did it just the other day with my fc, had a downpipe straight to air and it was not really as loud as people say). in anycase, you should get use to it, hell 99% of the people i know would rather drive around with a dp/mp/catback. if you don't like the sound, i kinda pity you... i guess its different strokes for different folks though.

what i consider loud is an open header V8 running at 6k rpm

yeah thats why I haven't installed it yet. I'm gathering pennies for that ole pfc though soon enough it will be mine!

Did you have any type of boost controller when your boost went crazy?

Well, my first suggestion is get an impact wrench to save you some trouble. Second dont boost without an ECU or Boost Controller, I hate hearing about blown motors. Third I had an '87 Sport FC with a blown Apex seal that I was using for parts on my old FC. When I took the exhaust off and spent an hour trying to start it with just the downpipe...Lets just say the neighbors dont look at me the same way anymore, and this was 3yrs ago...!
