Question smoking

just bought a 93' r1 . been having problems since i first drove the car. my current prob. is that the secondary turbo would not kick on. thought that this might have to do with the homemade boost controllers that were installed on the car. I removed the controllers and installed vac. lines then took it for a drive. the secondary turbo kicked on. was only in boost for a sec when I heard a funny whinning sound coming from the turbo. got back to the house and took a look. everything seemed fine except for the funny noise. about five min. later started the car and it began smoking.
does anyone have any suggestions as to what is going on?

sounds like he sold you a car with bunk turbos.

its probably turbo whir.
the impeller blades of the secondary turbo are hitting the side of the housing when boosting and causing that noise. it is also smoking cuz oil is now leaking and getting burned.

you might not want to drive the car too much, dont want the turbo fan blades to break into lots of small pieces and get in all your intake parts.

take the car to any place that works on turbos and have them listen to it. do not boost the car until its all taken care of. there are restirctor pills in the vacuum lines you probably have removed. a rotary shop is your best bet.
