As some of you do, i start my car in gear as to avoid the 3000 rpm startup. when i do it now and take it out of gear after a few secs it runs rough and smokes a little and smells alot like unburnt fuel. after it warms for a few it goes away but it stumbles for a sec when i put it in first as i come up to a light and stop. the rpms fluctuate if i take it in and out of gear while idling.Anybody experience similar probs or have any advice?. I had a similar problem and replaced the O2 sensor and it seem to have fixed it.

 

It only runs rough when its cold and i take out of gear after starting in gear for bout 10 secs, if that makes any sense. It stumbles for a sec, cold or warm, when i come to a stop and put it in 1st but after im stopped and i take it in and out of gear it fluctuates. Ive had the engine light come on a while back and the code came up 02 sensor but the manual and mechanic said it would not affect the way it runs. Any other suggestions, this is drivin me nuts. The code for o2 sensor has come on long before this prob. Do you think running rough when cold except when in gear could be caused by the o2. When warmed up it runs ok except it jumps up bout 200 rpm when put in gear at idle.

 

So has nobody experinced this prob b4? 9 times out of 10 you guys know more than any of my local mechanics. Is this the end of the line for my prob?
