smart enough to figure this out????

94 rx7 a/t idles good, but will not accelerate past 15 mph. Compression test done by a dealer averaged 4-5 per cyl. I know this is low compression, but shouldn't the car still go more than 15 mph? Tried my friends power apexi fc and we got it past 2000 rpms for the first time. He said he adjusted the fuel down to dump less fuel in and it revved up better. He doesn't know much about the power fc and said he thinks the engine is shot. But the car does not smoke or idle bad. So w
hat do you fellow rotor heads think??
Thanks Rob.
p.s. Another mechanic said the compression sounds good to him and that some times madza dealers make mistakes about compression test. He feels like it is probably a bad ecu, but a/t ecus are hard to come by.

I think I see your problem.

Seriously, though, I think it's hard to screw up a compression test THAT badly, unless you forget to crank the engine. Have you checked vacuum at idle?

Could be many things. Turbos not spinning, sensor on tranny, bad ecu, really clogged cat.

the sensor...up on the drivers side firewall in the engine bay...a direct line in front of the steering wheel...by the ignition sort of...has a little vacuum hose coming off it...if that is bad you wont get past 25 mph in my experience....check to see if it is plugged in.

Could it be the oil metering pump? Annother mechanic just picked up this error code?

Yes! If the oil metering pump goes out, it throws the check engine light and puts you in "limp" mode, from what I understand.

That's your problem!

I think there's one on eBay right now if you can't find one locally.

Oh, you never said the CEL was on.

From what I understood, if the omp goes out it puts you in the limp mode as a safety feature so you won't mess up the motor and your car acts just like it's in limp mode.

BTW this is the one I saw on eBay, already ended though.

Good luck.
