Slight incident with my car
Yesterday I was working on a friends car and had my car parked infront of his house. Well his brother decided to open my hood to show some friends my enginebay, and when they were done they closed it back and didnt put the hood pins back. So when I was done I went to leave and didn't know about my hood being opened so I was driving and WAM hood flew up and sacred the **** outta me.
So I pulled over and punched the **** out of the hood where it had bent back over the roof so I could close it, and punched it down so I could put the hood pins in it so I could drive back home.
Later that night I did some calling around looking for a hood and the first person I called was Shane at RotaryWorks and he had a hood for me. And it turns out that the hood he had was the hood from my first car (now Matt Cavin's and project Phoenix for RX Tuner) I just thought it was wierd how my first cars hood came all the way back up to Jax the day this happend and I got it.

Seriously, hood pins are just not a good idea. EVERY PERSON that I've known that ditched the stock latch for hood pins has had this happen. At some point, you're gonna forget to put the pins back in, and you're gonna have damage. Best case, you ruin the hood, worst case you break the windshield and damage the roof, or lose visibility and hit somebody/something.
I would only use hood pins IN ADDITION TO the stock hood latch. It's a good idea on a high-speed track car to keep hood lift down.

Well fortunately it didnt break the windshield and only scuffed the paint on the roof.
I would also like to have the latch so random people cant open my hood but the previous owner ditched it and I havent got one yet.
The kids parents are gonna pay for it so I didnt have to whip their ***.
But I have to have the fenders repainted the roof repainted and the hood painted on top of the cost of a new hood. So even though the damage was minimal its still gonna cost a good bit.

Why would you ditch the stock latch and just have hood pins?

RotaryNemesis, is rotaryworks located here in Jax? I actually need to get a new motor with a streetport done in December. Was originally going to N-tech, but if Shanes runs a reputable shop, I wouldn't mind staying local (can you pm or post his contact number or website?). Thanks for any input
