Sliding problem.

Hi.

I've made a search on this but couldnt find anything about it.

I will explain what i've done when the problem occurs and what mods i have.

mods: exhaust 3" and i have an alarm wich is installed by an authorized shop (although they have never done it on a rx-7).

Anyway when i'm sliding it happens that the engines sort of just dies. It's not only when sliding but also after sliding if i have full throttle. It never happens when i'm not sliding.

Anyone know what might be the problem? Could it be the fuel filter?

i think describing it as if the engine dies is wrong it just loses power completely. and after i've slided and want to pull fast it does it again only i get power after like 1/2 second.

Sounds like fuel slosh. Does it happen when doing a hard left turn?

(someone help me here, I've never experienced this, only heard about it)

Well, if the car is making a hard turn, the fuel goes to the side of the fuel tank and the pump can't get enough fuel, so the car feels like it's running out of fuel and dies if you jam on the gas when this is happening.

Usually people who do AutoX experience this from the constant shifting of the car. Most people end up upgrading the fuel pump to help with it.

Sure, it has to do with the gas shifting inside the gas tank in a way that the fuel pump cannot deliver it to the engine.

i was rippin in these go carts at the beach this weekend and the motor would cut out when i would get nasty sideways through the corners. i asked the dude that worked there what the deal was and he said the same type of thing about the fuel. it sounds like the same thing ur experiencing. i have never had anything like this happen in my fd though. why so much sliding?

When I got back on the forums after being away for a while (about 2-3 months ago) There was a guy talking about manufacturing a device for this exact problem. It looked like a enlarged soda can with welds on top and bottom and adapters for A/N fittings. I think it would store fuel and it sensed when the fuel would "slosh" and would kick in. I tried searching but could not find what I was looking for. Maybe somebody knows what I am talking about.

I'm thinking as long as you have enough fuel in your tank you won't have this problem

Rotaryextreme sells a secondary fuel pump system (a small fuel cell which the primary fuel pump keeps full all the time. there is another pump that feeds this gas to the engine) which protects against this. I was thinking of getting it but I don't have enuf money right now for it so all I do is to fill the take up all the way.

BTW: In a 94 FD, there are baffels inside the fueltank to keep the fuel from sploshing too much.

good luck
