Question Size of 3rd gen owners

I'm looking into selling my 2nd gen and buying a 3rd gen.

3rd gens are smaller though and i am wondering if many "bigger" guys own them. I'm 6'4" and about 220lbs.

I'd never purchase a 1st gen because I found them too narrow, particularly the width between steering wheel and door.

Are 3rd gens bigger inside than 1st gens?

For 3rd gen owners:
How tall are you??
How much do you weight??

thanks in advance
Daniel

I have a friend who's 6'4" and he can't sit comfortably in the passenger seat with the seat all the way back. I'm 5'9" and 155lbs and fit just fine.

The passenger seat is quite a bit smaller than the drivers though..

I'm 6'2" about 225 or so (haven't weighed myself recently) and I fit well, I can't put on a helmet without hitting my head on the roof...and I can't heel-toe (so I have to toe-heel. ). But other than that, I fit okay. A lot better than an NSX or S2000.

I'm 6'5" but 191 lbs. I own a 1st and 3rd gen. I would have to say the 3st gen is a bit roomier than the 1st. I have a friend who is 6'4" and gosh... prob 260+ *shrug* He's a big guy! and well.... he dosn't fit at ALL in the passenger side... he still manages it tho because he loves to ride in the car. I would say find someone in your area and plop down in the drivers seat. You'll know w/out driving it...
One other thing tho.. if you want to hit the track get a R1... I have a touring because I love the sunroof... but I will have to fab up a way to fit w/ a helmet... IT WILL HAPPEN!!!

Contrary to popular belief - the SUNROOF itself does not decrease the amount of headroom in an FD - but yes the headliner on a touring model is slightly thicker than an R-1 (don't know about the Base model)

I'm 6'3" and around 240

My R-1 has great headroom, just need to raise the rearview a couple inches, and bring the steering wheel back a bit to be real comfortable. The seats on the R-1 get a bit uncomfortable on my fat *** on long trips, they are focused more on holding ya firm in the twisties, than massaging big whitebread americans...

Also I am 5'10" & 205lbs - I find the tightest fit is between the front of the seat and the bottom of the steering wheel. I have an auto but have driven a 5 spd and my thigh touches the steering wheel when using the clutch or left foot braking the auto. Though I will admit that at 26"+ my thighs are rather huge.

When I changed from a 88 GTU to 93 R1, I thought the knee room was not enough. I kept on hitting the steering wheel with my knee. The 93 felt absolutely claustrophobic. But then I got used to keeping my knee out of the way. Now I find that it's perfect.

I am 6 foot 1 but I weigh 175 pounds.

6'4", 200 and change. I fit fine as long as the car has no sunroof. I do find the steering wheel low and close to my knees, but it doesn't drive me crazy. With my helmet on I have to hunch down slightly to stay out of the headliner.

I am 6'5" and 200 lbs. I have an R1 which fits me all right, my head doesn't touch the headliner. As has been said before, the steering wheel is a bit low and I can't heel/toe, but those things don't bother me. I just can't autocross because I don't fit at all with a helmet. The touring model I test drove lost about an inch of headroom due to sunroof/thicker headliner. I would have needed racing seats if I bought that one.

I'm 6'1" and 155lbs. I fit damn well in the seat. If I was any taller I'd start to get cramped legs because I tend to drive with my legs totally straight. With the seat all the way back and reclined so that it just bumps the cargo bin, the car feels like it was designed for me.

Are there and mods for the steering wheel? It would probably be more comfortable if you could move the wheel back.

6'1" and 210 pounds. I fit fine, but I wouldn't want an FD with a sunroof at my height or taller. You DO give up about 1" of headroom.....I know, I sat in a base and a touring and felt the difference. I can JUST fit my hand on top of my head in my car (no sunroof) and my head JUST barely touches in a touring....weird feeling having your hair tickled constantly.....ugh!
