all RX7s are getting rarer, FD's in particular, most common color however, i believe is black. Silver I think is not too uncommon, white I think is kinda hard to find, if your talking about FD's. Not sure about others models tho.

Yes, I agree. Rarer is not a word. And I'm wasted too! Best part is, I have to drink 40 beer tomorrow! Hooray for the UBC engineers!

It is.

I think color rarity seems to be region specific. For example, it took my months to find mine down in FL, but I have seen a large number of SSMs up here.

Vintage Red is most common
2. Brilliant Black
3. Montego Blue
4. Silverstone Metallic
5. Chaste White
6. Competition Yellow Mica

I have the chart somewhere, with specific percents, ill go look for it in a minute. I believe VR is way up there, almost 40%.

Hope this helps

Yes the Silver 7's are becoming more sought after....they are the baddest color Not trying to flame.....just being a little partial. The 94 Silver R2 is the rarest other than the Pearl White PEP which there is only 1. You will pay a premium for a Silver.....I would say a little more than CYM even if it's a Touring. This is just my opinion....but it seems to be the case from everywhere that I've looked.

Silver usually is a more sought after color no matter what the make. My Denali is Silver and they bring more than the other colors do. If you can find a Silver Supra TT your very lucky too. They are the best looking Supra's by far!

I see mostly VR's around here. Mine is the only Montego blue I've seen. And a friend at school has a black one.

Crashunit is right. Silver is only getting rare to the extent all FD's are getting rare. There seems to have been a larger than usual number of serious crashes over this winter. I think what is happening is that as the cars have gotten cheaper, they're being owned by younger and younger drivers. There are a number of people on this forum who have an FD as their first car. You put that together with snow or rain slicked roads and you wind up with some totaled FD's. Of all the FD's ever imported to the U.S. I'd be willing to bet only about 60% to 70% are still on the road.

does anyone have any idea how many FDs are still on the road today in the US? there have never been many up here, but then again, there are very few sporty cars to start with... damn snow!

Gee.... And that is the one I'm looking for. Kind of tough when you only have 99 possible cars out there that you want to get your hands on...

"Rarer" is indeed a word, but its difficulty to pronounce makes it unpopular. Publishers prefer to use modifiers "more" and "most."

SSM is a very nice color but I really don't think it's "rare". When I was looking for cars, I looked at a bunch of SSM cars and they weren't really going for any more than BB or VR...

Actually I was counting the 16 they made in 1995 too... I did locate one though and am still talking to him about it. What do you think is a fair price for one with 27K on it and all reliablitlity mods and rims + tires?? Just would like to get your thoughts on it..

Rarer? As in Depletion Rate?

I can't think of any reason why the "depletion rate" of any one color FD would be different than any other color with the possible exception of CYM. It just seems to me that I keep hearing about more and more CYMs being totalled or parted-out.

Yes, you're just being partial

Seems like the only premium that a silver FD gets is for not being a red FD that everyone and their brother seem to own. CYM cars get several thousand more just for being CYM. I know of one w/60k+ miles that just sold for $25k which is several thousand more than Brad's silver '93 that had just 9k original miles.

Also, the Royal Sapphire Blue Supra's have always been THE color Supra to have and command a 'color premium' price just like the CYM RX-7.
