Silicone hoses

I'm changing out my turbo and i've noticed that almost all the vacuum hoses are pretty brital since the are 13 years old. I fingured I would take this opportunity to upgrade to silicone hoses; however, after checking the internet I have found that there are a lot of different sizes out there to choose from. I took my tape measure to one of them, but I'm not sure if they are measured that way. would anyone out there be able to tell me sizes and maybe a good place to buy them.

thanks

only time i actually recommend ebay...

they have a few silicone vac hose kits that are decently priced. they come in 2-5 sizes. i got a kit that only had 2, i think, 3mm and 5mm, but i am not totally sure if those were the exact sizes. some fit rather tight, but it wasnt much of a hastle. you'll notice the pricier kits have more sizes included in the kit. they usually run from 70$-150$. any kit for the fd3s will do, just make sure there silicone and include lots of zip-ties

Hose techniques has a kit for the fd with all the correct sizes. Kit is between $100 and $125 IIRC

There is a lot of debate on using silicone, however.
If you have the bucks, go with VITON. I did and love it, however it IS about 3 times as expensive as silicone.
Or, you can just go with stock nitrile (sp?) rubber. It was good for 13 years, right? Hard to beat, bang for the buck.
LOTS of threads on this, by the way.

i want to replace my vac hoses soon too and still cant decide on which vac hoses to go with. robs site mentions only 2 sizes needed 4mm and 6mm then the kits available come with 3.5mm, 4mm, 6mm and i think 8mm. then theres the debate over silicon and wether to use zip ties or not. it becomes comfusing. ive been searching the forum and the different posts on the vac issue so just when im ready to make a decision i read a post that has something bad to say about that brand or type of hose. i found a post that mentions the duro blue hose which is supposed to be better then silicon but cost more.

you only need zip ties on the hoses that actually have boost pressure running through them. hoses down by turbo(wastegate, pre-control), and the map sensor hoses are the most important. if you dont zip tie these, they WILL at some point in time pop off under boost. do it right the first time, and you wont have this problem

A good writeup on doing the hoses, along with the diagrams:

If you don't need to have pretty colors, I would recommend McMaster-Carr:

Otherwise, Baker Precision:

Hope this helps,
