Silicone Hose for power steering leak?

I fixed my power steerig leak a few months ago, but I used a heater hose as the return hose, and the damn thing is starting to leak again now. What is the STRONGEST material hose I can use to fix this leak PERMANENTLEY? is silicone good for this?

I actually found out that silicone is bad to use for petrolium (oily) type products. I actually bought a REAL oil hose from rockauto.com made by "Edelmann" and have already installed it. Mazda for some reason told me that this small 3'' suction hose cannot be purchased seperatley, and if it leaks the entire power steering pump must be replaced ($900) yeah right

Er....it is well known that silicone hoses and oil do NOT mix....hundreds of threads on this in every 'rat's nest replacement' thread.

Once agin, VITON would be the BEST hose but I don't know if I have ever seen VITON in that diameter.

Sounds like you fixed it the BEST way, I wonder if there is a better clamping system that we need to use to keep those small leaks from even starting?

And yeah...+1 on the whole "replace the power steering pump" bullshit!

Heater hose is for coolant. Try fuel line. Does it take half inch? Napa should have some half inch fuel line.

BTW, they weren't lying when they told you the suction hose isn't seperate. I just looked at the parts catalog on mazdaspeed and it isn't sold. They only sell the pressure line and long return line.

That small 3" hose is about $8 from Mazda. Call Malloy Mazda and talk to Ray. I replace that hose on nearly every motor I do because they all leak. Replace the clamps as well with quality worm gear clamps. The stock clamps are designed to prevent over-tightening but they ALWAYS leak.

Try lines made for power steering.

I used Parker Power Steering hose (3/8 and 1/2 ) and made my own.

GM E-Z coils were used to create bends in the hoses:
