Should I replace the Fuel Pulsation Damper?
I am doing the hose job again and wanted to know if replacing the FPD is recommended?
Also I would like to know everyones opinion on what to replace when doing the hose job. (FPD, Soliniods?, Gaskets, ETC.....)
Thanks,
JM

How long ago did you replace your FPD? If you are still on your original one, then I would replace it. Otherwise, I think you should be fine.
Replace any paper gaskets, but since you have already done the hose job, I doubt you will run into any of them. If the rubber coating has flaked away from metal gaskets, then depending on how bad the flaking is either replace them or use some RTV sealant on your old ones.
You also might want to get your injectors cleaned while you are in there.

check and see if your solenoids are working correctly or fairly well. If they aren't you can get some corvette ones that work like a charm and are 3 times cheaper than stockers. If I were you I WOULD replace the FPD while I was in there, just to be safe. Good Luck, oh also...why are you doing your hose job again??

Fuel Pulsation Damper... It dampens the fuel pulsations, of course! The fuel pumps sitting in the tank suck your fuel up and pump it forward through the fuel lines. Before the fuel hits the injectors, the pulses have to be damped out so that there's a steady stream of fuel hitting the injectors before going into the engine's combustion chambers. If it was pulsing, you would run rich half the time and lean half the time. Not a great thing unless your engine's rpm is perfectly matched to the fuel pump's pulse cycle- not very possible with an RX-7. FPD's can be the cause of many problems and changing a broken or worn out one to a newer/upgraded one can save you a lot of hassle of the problems they're related with. I would recommend doing it because even if it isn't the problem, it will prevent others from occuring.

usually the obvious sign that you need to replace it is if the little rubber thingy that is on top of the FPD is still there, if its not... time for a new one... I can help you out if you need one for cheap... ~$100-110 bucks.

anyone got a picture of this thing? Is this the same as the Fuel Pressure Regulator? Some people have different names for things. I know on the fuel rail there is the FPR or (FPD) and then the rail, and then injectors. I dunno.. confused, just want to make sure. I run overly rich all the time and i'm not sure if its the PFC or something wrong with the FPD? Thanks..

Correct, the FPR is on the firwall side of the secondary injector rail. The FPD is on the firewall side of the primary injector housing. In the pic, the FPR is labeled. The FPD is the green saucer shaped thing with two screws and a fuel pipe pointing to the bottom right. The old FPD's are black.
