Should I buy?

I have been looking for an RX-7 for over a year now and I am always too late or it isn't the right one. I think I have found one, but it isn't really what I am looking for. Needs some work. What do you guys think? Should I get it?

94,000 miles, downpipe, 5 speed ---> $12,900

That would be depend on what "needs some works" actually means and if you are willing to do what needs to be done.

Well, getting a reman (the cheapest way of replacing the engine) will run you at least around $2100. That's only if that is the only thing that needs to be replaced and you do your own engine removal and install.

If the turbos need to be rebuilt, you are looking at another $700 or so for that (without labor as well).

As for the paint job, I can't tell in the pictures, but it looks ok so you might be able to hold off on that. If not, you are looking at around $3000 for a decent paint job.

Then there are the hidden costs you might have like new tires, supsension parts that might need to be replaced, etc...

If buying a car at $13,000 will allow you room to take care of other potential problems, go for it. At least have a compression test done on the car before you sign or hand ANY money over. That way, you'll know exactly where the engine stands.

So if the engine is going to go soon what should I offer? $12,900 seems a little high.

yes, if it needs a rebuild it should be lower than 10k. Just look that the cars for sell on this site. You are looking at putting another 3-5k in the car.

If it's not the car you want, and you are having doubts, then I would say WAIT. Some things in life shouldn't be compromised, and this is a very important decision you are about to make.

I agree completely. I dunno, $12K is alot of money no matter how you look at it. I wouldn't spend it on anything that I'm not absolutely sure about.

Hell, the guy should offer a $1000 rebate just for ruining the front end of a perfectly good FD. That bumper blows goats

I'd pass on it for that price man....

I'd plan at least $1200 for a different front end..

After looking at the car again, the only real reason to purchase it would be to undertake the task of making it respectable again. New bumper, new wheels, get rid of the silly seatbelt pads, and I'm sure there's a bunch of other stuff those pics don't show.....

Wow. You can still see the marks from where the stock spoiler was at. You would think if they pulled off the spoiler they would at least repaint the hatch.

Yeah first thing I am doing if I get the car and the engine is ok is removing the front bumper and putting the stock rims back on. I am really having doubts now because my aunt just bitched me out about how I could kill my self and how I am making an unrealistic decision. I hardly ever go over the speed limit and I believe I am a safe driver.
