Short Shifter

Hi,

I did a few searches, and I couldn't find the numbers I was looking for.

I'm trying to make a decision on a short shifter. I'm considering rx7store version, Petit racing, or C's.

Does anyone know what the shift reduction percentage is on a C's? I just read that it is specified as 25%, but that doesn't sound right to me; not for the price.

I've read (on rx7club), the Petit shifter has a 60% reduction and the rxstore shifter has a 50% reduction. Did I get this right?

Thanks guys,

C

Which would mean it's like the B & M, right?

So the C's isn't worth more than the other two.

The pettit and the rx7store are the same shifter. The B&M is 30% I think and Im not sure about the C's. Gothams is a knock off of the B&M.

Great info...

Anyone have a photo of a Petit/rx7store shifter installed? Of course I want the technical aspects of it; but for the money I want to make sure it looks the part too.

Actually there is a good thread on it from last week.

Mazdaspeed, C`s are the same......

B&M Is the only one I have seen thats different from all the rest, but also there is ANOTHER thread about it rattling, but some people swear its the best...

I recently installed the B&M short throw shifter and I'm very amazed on how much actualy that thing does shorten the throw, yet tightens the shifter I'd say 50% or more tighter than before,
I'm truly owned by this thing, never thought it would be such a difference from before.
I don't regret a penny spent on it...

I'm running one from Gotham Racing and love it, I don't know about the others, but I would definently suggest it or another like it to any one even curious, if you don't like it, you can sell it and take a small loss.

Good threads about the subject:

I like my Gotham, but my bushing has failed. I believe its the original factory bushing.

Only if u shift mad fast and beat the syncros. The throw can be so short with some of the shifters that I've heard it can happen. I've never had a super short shifter. I seem to recall the issue being discussed in one of the threads I linked above.

Guys,

Pettit makes two short throw shifters with differing throw reduction. How can you tell them apart? Any pics?

I've noticed 2nd is harder to get into with the B&M than it used to be with the stock shifter(again might be the cold). But 3rd is a helluva lot eaiser.

I think the rumor was the shifter pivot point has changed and the shifts are actually more abrupt then stock. This was noticed at first, but I was always waiting for something to happen with my C`s, well 2 years later and a lot of racing and frucking around and no sychros no problems...

I have also had my engine torque brace almost 3 years so maybe that helps for synchros hummmm

Seriously, I find the tork brace totaly useless, I installed it few months ago and don't seem to do anything exept for shaking at idle like a chain saw.

I think it depends how good your motor mounts are and how your tranny moves around. If everything is solid in you're car its not going to make a big difference. In my car with over 100,000 miles on it I'm sure it would make a big difference.

There's the difference in the shafts from the RX-7Store/Pettit and the stock shaft.
