Angry Short in Coolant Level Sensor Wire

After thousands of dollars put into having the car I always dreamed of, I have the annoying buzzer going off constantly. I had a 2 and a half hour drive the other day, so disconnected the harness from the back of the dash to get rid of the noise. Of course no tach, speedometer or anything else worked, but hey, at least it was quiet.

I have taken the wire from the engine harness off the sensor to try grounding it on the engine so that it would switch the light off... didn't work. So the answer isn't that I need a new sensor, but that there is a break in the wire.

I contacted the wiring diagram and it says that it goes back and connects to X-12 which is part of the emissions harness on the driver side of the engine bay and then to X-06 which goes to the footwell of the driver side.

Why is it that when I took out the engine harness when rebuilding the motor, the black with red dashes came out with that? I never noticed it going over to that side of the car? Oh well.

So after reading the diagram, it says it turns from black to brown/white. And ultimately, I took the connector out of the dash to shut the buzzing up, so it's somewhere in there.

How does it transfer from the engine harness to the emission harness? Any idea on how to run a new wire from the sensor to the dash basically? I want my tach and speedo and oil pressure guages to work again and to be able to enjoy my 7 years of work! Help!!!!

Technically you could run a wire direct from the ECU (pin 3D; brown/white wire) to the coolant level sensor. I doubt the coolant level sensor wire is shielded so it shouldn't cause any issues. The sensor is grounded against the engine so that should be the only thing you have to do.

It was my understanding that the coolant level sensor is a ground sensor, meaning that when the water touches the sensor, that forms the ground to the engine and turns off the light and buzzer.

Also, when you say 3D, it's my understanding this is the ECU in the dash cluster right? So the connector that goes right behind the tach has the brown/white I need to connect directly to the sensor?

I still don't understand how the wire goes from the engine harness to behind the dash... as far as tracing the wire.

He's talking about the pin on your engine ECU.

Looking at the wiring diagram, it shows that the ECU that is 3D goes to the CPU that controls the speedometer and odometer in the dash. Maybe it's just me, but the ECU is the Engine Control Unit and there are various other CPUs in the car that control the dash, the turn signals, radio and other stuff... Can someone track the wiring through the car for me??

ground the wire on the harness side the buzzer goes off. if the wiring is intact. there is at least one clip down by the power steering pump that tends to get broken and will cause an open in the circut and thus the buzzer

I did just remove the p/s and a/c, so possibly, the wire down there got messed up. I'm guessing it's brown/white then. How does that wire tie back to the black with red dashes? I think that's starting to sound like it's making more sense now.

I don't have a coolant lvl sensor in my also; what I do is unplug the wires for the buzzer(its a long plug with about 12 wires, right infront of the fuse box by your left foot). It gets rid of the sound and factory alarm, but nothing else, I drove like this for awhile now. Just a quick fix so you can have gauges and no sound.
