Not to my knowledge. You really need to have a dp, mp, cb, and ecu to be shootin flames. It'll backfire, but no flames.

This is the friend to whom FC3AZ was refering to. Very weird, i'm pretty sure my car dosn't have anything but catback exhaust. But it did in fact not only pop out flames, but held a solid flame for about 5 minutes, till the gas was all burnt. The flame was about 6 inches from the tail pipe. note: i was not driving the car, it was idling. Right when i started the car, it did this, it was not running smooth at all though, not a normal idle it was at like 3400 rpm or 4k, the car was only running cause i had my foot floored onto the gas pedal. I don't know what to say, but i'll check and make sure that i don't have any sort of hollowed cat's or mp or dp.

Can anybody tell me if there is something behind me shooting flames, because I also thought that only with the mp and dp, it would shoot flames. Need to know why my car did?

well if you get a midpipe you have no CAT right? Also what pre-cat is everyone talking about? Is that a
stateside thing? What HP did the 95 FD come out with stock?

255hp. The precat is what you would replace with a downpipe. Part between the turbo manifold and the midpipe/cat.

Ya the JDM 7s don't have precats, i have an Efini Dp sitting in my garage that i'm willing to sell for 100$... its heavy though and has heat shielding on it. its 2.5in dp..

Other than that, i hear popping when i let of the gas, i only have a catback ... still precat and cat... and very rarely will i shoot a small blue flame out the exhaust when i'm on it.

I get tons of soot on my rear bumper as well.. better to run the rich than the lean!

Got a pic? I've been wondering how they routed the exhaust past the steering rod.

Before my rebuild, I had gutted cats and a K&N drop in filter and I got a nice flame out the back if I shift from 1st to 2nd around 7000+ rpm ..everything else on the car is stock.

maybe my Jspec FD has a little more ummmph ?

I don't have a pic but I can tell you they are really not very impressive. Just after the O2 there is a little sort of dent on the DP that allows it to squeeze past the steering rod ....my car is a JSPEC as well. 1992 R1 FD

Any questions ?

..Yep, the stateside model has a pre-cat...something that we don't have to worry about.
