Shock recommendations?

My FD has Eibach springs and Tokiko 5-way adjustable shocks. I recently bought the car and find the ride to be jarring. I notice fluid on the top of the right rear shock and guess it is leaking. There doesn't seem to be much difference in ride when I adjust the shocks. Do you think the shocks are worn out or is the ride just going to be this way? Firm is fine, but this really doesn't seem right. Any recommendations to smooth it out a bit. Thanks.

The tokicos have bene known to blow every now and then. They do have a lifetime warranty for the original owner though.

I have the same exact setup. I typically have them set at 2 on all four corners and readjust them to 4 or 5 for track duty. On a "normal" road my track settings are just to stiff for normal day to day driving.

It sounds like you "may have" other issues besides one possible blown shock. Check to make sure the rubber spring "perches" are in good condition, if they aren't replace them. You can get new ones from Ray at Malloy Mazda for around $160.00 if I recall correctly.

If your looking for some new suspension pieces to fix the problem and have 1100 to 1500 to spend invest into some coilovers. i delt with my blown suspension for about four months then i bought TEIN super drifts form rx7store and have set them on the softest setting and they feel really great. I just took them on a 350 mile round trip yestard day and i felt pretty good after. they are 36 way adjustable so i can put them as tight as i want when it comes to track duty which doesn't happen much b/c the local SSCA autocross shut down I just really like having something that was disigned to work instead of throwing shocks and springs together and hoping for the best.

Eibach springs and stock shocks . Search on some of Howard Coleman's threads - this is close to the ideal setup for the FD. Handles great and rides great too.

I second this, a recommendation i got from Howard as well, and while I'm still learning to drive at the limit I will say that after 2 seasons of autox and 1 HPDE on this setup the car feels great, and still has a great ride on the street too.
