Weight Difference in Rear Seats and Storage Bins?

Does anyone know the weight difference between the two? I've thought about getting the rear seats for a while now. But i want to conserve weight as much as i can. I'm sure the seats are heavier, i just dont know by how much. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Jeff, since you did the conversion, what are the rear seats covered with, leather or synthetic? Were there any other (material) options available?

I don't know what options were available. Mine were black vinyl.

Thanks for the information though. Thought there might be "matching" options such as cloth for Base cars or the pseudo-suede for the R1/R2s.

Jeff is real close I weighed it and the difference with panels and all was 7lbs. I think that was mostly the difference in the bolts and seat belts. Mine are also a vinyl black textured a bit. You cannot really notice the difference and they wear better than the leather.

That's interesting! FWIW, the listed weight difference for 2-seater vs 4-seater is 10kg (22lbs). That's version II type-r (4-seater) vs version II type type-r 2 (2-seater) - but there are one or two other minor differences (noteably, no rear wiper on the 2-seater).

I once read that the version I 4-seaters (91-aug 93) were real leather, and the following were synthetic. But having checked some out - they look the same as mine (synthetic).

There are no 'matching options', and as far as I can tell, they all look the same - from 91-02. Though, I would assume the red interior cars have red rear seats (I haven't seen one to verify).

I've driven my FD for 2 days now and already used my rear seats 3 times. Granted, most of them were for rides to people, but none the less....

My backpack for school also fits very well in the rear seats.
