Shipping Rip OFF's

Hey gang,

Was cruising around the web looking to buy a small amount of products ( maybe 500$). Well, I see that since I live in Canada that is a problem......

Rx7.com has shipping rates that are amazing but don't have what I am looking for ( Nardi Steering wheels) and all the other places I look that have them shipping is 70$+ on a 190$ Item that weighs nothing. Common now.

So I was wondering if there is any place that is honest with its international or Canadian shipping prices....

Thanks a million,

Alex

I bought this wheel from www.rhdjapan for $152 plus $75 shipping from Japan....looks brand new . If you sign up on their website they will email you updates as new products arrive.

I sell tons of parts to your Canadian friends. You pay actual shipping costs only.

most companies, for light items, should be using EMS to send their items out of japan.

here's the EMS rates: http://www.post.japanpost.jp/english/fee/intel/ems.html (use xe.com for conversions)

if your estimated weight doesn't tally with those rates, then you are definitely being ripped.

well point is, they don't hide the rates from the buyer so its not a rip off..

factor it into the price like u are and theres nothing 2 complain about

that's one way of looking at it, but if someone is charging you, for example, US$75 for freight, when it's only US$25, they either have a strange conception of 'handling' fees, or they are actively ripping you off.

being aware of the rip off, doesn't justify it - but if it doesn't bother you, then it's a moot point.

personally, I'm more than happy to give people a precise break-down of my fees - I think honesty, and maintaining a good set of customers via good service, is the way to go.

so many sharks out there

Product weight was 3kgs and shipping was 70$ instead of 15$ I was definitively getting ripped thanks Dai.

I hate sending stuff to canada as you have to fillout **** load of paperwork.
Maybe that's why some people charge more to ship to Canada?? who knows!

Also, when somethings are ship to US from Japan, you have to also consider customs fee/ tax as sometimes its prepaid in Japan. Correct me if I'm wrong.. Thats what I remember from couple of years ago....

I am 100% with you.

However, when we are talking about in this case a Nardi Steering wheel. It is sold wholesale by the N/A distributor so customs are included in cost price. Also when the item arrives at my door I must pay customs.....

Finally, for the gentleman who said I should think of it as part of the price. I disagree because when an article is being sold at full retail price and on top of it you are getting ripped for shipping rates than it is NOT part of the price.

Thanks to all the contributors, Ramy I PM'ed you,

Alex

i don't see the difference in a part for $220 and $30 shipping vs $200 and $50 for shipping. or $250 and no shipping charge. not taking other things into consideration.

Same problem to Hawaii, if they will even ship here. Some pages say "free shipping to the US", but when you buy something you get email the next day saying "oops that will be an extra $100.00 shipping. Price we pay to live in paradise

Easy fix...

Sure, it's extra shipping costs, but you can take advantage of a lot of the "free shipping" deals out there.

As for the original poster whining - just deal with it.
No one is pointing a gun to your head to buy anything.
It's your responsibility to get all the details on S&H before you commit to purchase.

Wow, the guy is trying to get parts and is asking if anyone knows of good places and you act like he is complaining that he has to pay to get stuff. Go easy on him, he just wants to know if there are some better deals out there.
