Shifter turret fluid missing

Hey guys,
I was rebuilding the shifter on 1994 manual touring and I planned to extract the old fluid from the housing and put new fluid in. When I looked in the turret it was bone dry. Anyone seen this before? Any know areas of turret leaks?

Not sure if the PO ever worked on this.

IIRC the shift-select spindle takes a gasket and can sweat or leak. Sits on the passenger side but I don’t remember how low it sits on the reservoir and whether it would leave it completely dry like that. Unless you cleaned it before that pic I wonder if the PO left it that way. Why he would do that is a whole other question. That’s crazy.
Be sure to follow the service manual. It tells you how much gear oil it takes and what to grease.

Thanks Sgtblue. I had the transmission rebuilt and it probably happened then. Not sure why I didn't connect it in my mind earlier. I will add the fluid and see if I can see it leaking.
