Shifter fluid???

Is the shifter fluid seperate from the trannie fluid. My shifter is real notchy and when cold it will go boom shifting to second a couple of times. I noticed after I took all my carpet out that thier was oil that leaked from the shifter area and all over the inside of the car. Thier wasnt much visible but mabey like a bottle of fuel treatment worth. This means it could have been more. Anywone????

The only leakage you can have inside the car is from the heater core - anything leaking from the tranny is going to be below and outside.

Janbell. It was oily stuff coming from the shifter area... Not the tranzmission itself.

Wait a minute. I had the sorounding off today and saw that the shifter boot and heat insulation was saturated in oil... I figure it is splashing around.
