Shift **** Install

Ok so I am trying to install my RX-8 5speed shift **** I just got from the UK and I went out to my car and screwed it on and man it looks rediculous sitting so high. I have heard you put tape on the shaft and the boot wont slide down but I figured I would make an install write up with pics. I need to know the size thread maker or just what size of nut that fits on the threads.

thanks

mike

the shift boot should have a plastic collar which keeps it up high. No need to tape anything. I have that **** and it fits perfectly

My thoughts exactly on it sitting so high, I asked Bill about his and to my surprise its a stock shaft. Although in his picture it looks as though it sits lower than normal.

the shifter is shown in the neutral position. I just screwed it on as far as it would go...the car is stock with 36K on the odo.
