Selling bike for another FD?

The wife has given me the green light to purchase another FD. I have been alotted 10k to spend. If i want to spend more i have to either wait till say spring/summer time, or sell my motorcycle (06 gsxr600 w/6k miles and a few mods). I could also sell one of my DD's, lil 94 toyota pickup, which i could possibly get 3k for due to good shape and low mileage. The wife has a new camry and i have another DD (04 Xterra), gotta transport the baby somehow, lol. I have seen some good deals for around 10-12k lately, but i would really love to go with something single and well sorted out, example: GorillaRE's VR that is for sale right now which is at 22.5k, im not looking to go that high but something along those lines.
I sold my last FD back in 06 and have been yearning for another for quite some time. I am just torn cuz i really like my bike and would hate to see it go. However i have had it for almost 2yrs and only put on like 3k myself. But, it is nice to know that its out in the garage just waiting to go. I was just curious if anyone had sacrificed like this to get that "perfect" ride for themselves and would you have changed anything. I guess this is more me just venting but thought i would just type it all out and except and and all feedback! Thanks, jamie.

sounds like you really want to ditch the bike for an FD, and you're in a state where it's summer year round. Honestly, enjoy the bike for another 6 months or so, and just wait till the right deal pops up.

yeah, i guess your right. weather here is usually always permitting of riding the bike. and its true, just gotta be patient and wait for that right deal. i just love these cars so much, i spend hours on the puter everday just looking at em. i even have a friend trying to sell me his 94tt supra, custome paint, trd widebody with CCW's. besides the power output possibilities im not even interested, the 7's are so much more sexy to me.

Funny my wife actually told me that I would have to sell my FD to get a bike. Fat chance of that lol.

Ahh the complication of married life i have three street bikes two dirt bike an FD and a SUV and no one to yell at me when i spend a buck. i say sell the bike and buy another one when you feel the need for two wheel speed, good luck with your purchase.

I don't know it is nice to have a bike willing and ready to go in the garage. I would say hold out and save. Hell I waited eight years to get my fd, and as much as I'm throwing at it it still won't keep up with my r1 . Plus fd's are know for their "downtime" nice to have another toy to keep happy in those times.

I sold my bike before I got my FD. I could've kept in and got the FD but family was worried and I thought it was time to cool off a for a bit. I wanted another toy after I sold the bike and what can be better then a FD RX7.

Bikes are an addiction, once you start it's hard to quit unless an accident makes you. When the summer comes I crave to ride but if I had to choose one, I'd always pick a car over a bike.

One thing I'm not sure is, in your case you already have a DD, so if you're looking for weekend fun a FD or most cars for that matter can't touch a bike.

^ I know fd's are hella fun, i have had one in the past. but like stated priorly, there is nothing like hopping on a bike to just go and release! i really dont wanna sell the bike but it would put me in a well sorted fd so much faster.

^^ It really depends on what you're after and your location. A well sorted FD still won't give you the kicks and thrills of a sportbike. Yeah it'll go fast with single turbo and all that but novelty will wear off. Like I said it really depends on you as well as where you live. Do you have a group of friends with similar bikes that you go riding with? Do you have smooth curvy roads where you live? Do you do trackdays? For example I enjoy driving my car more then my bike in Turkey but I enjoyed riding my bike more then my car when I was living in Australia.

If you really need to sell a bike, you probably can't afford an FD and all that goes with it - $10k is not enough to get into a reliable FD.

I've got a 2007 ZX-10R (piad for) and have more fun riding it then driving the FD, but I keep it up in the mountains and ride maybe 8 times a year, so it's not exactly practical. I drive the FD to work all the time.

@ no more rice, no need to preach about an FD to me. i had over 40k in the last one. money is not the issue here really, its that i have this bike, 4 DD's, 21ft century offshore (all paid for) a wife and a lil 9.5 month old child. and ever since i sold my last fd in 06 i have wanted another one. i thought getting the bike would help take my mind off of it but it has not.

Once kids arrive, toy time generally ends, unless you have an extremely understanding wife. I used to tell my brother, life is over when you get married and have kids - sure enough for him, it was

Fortunately my current g/f loves motor toys (esp waverunners), but that is rare

lol your wife has to give you permission to spend your own money??

So i guess money is the issue.

Why not just keep the bike AND get an FD??

I mean money is not an issue and you live in a warmer climate, bikes are always fun to own, so why not keep both??

Ok, coming from some who really knows... It really depends on what the bike is to you. Is riding just a great time, or it is something that you think really gives you what could be described as the truest feeling of freedom you have ever experienced? I know to some on here that statement could sound over exaggerated or overly dramatic. Trust me, I LOVE my FD and is the most fun I have ever had in a car, but it cannot deliver the same feeling of absolute freedom I have on a bike. Unfortunately I do not have a bike at the moment for the first time in years and as much as I want it to be, the FD is not the same. Although the FD is the closest thing I have ever found to a bike, it still is just not quite the same release.

If the bike is just fun, and you really feel like you want another FD, then I say go for it. But if the bike is more than that, you may really consider selling it and sell one of the DD instead...

Amen....especially where I ride - no cops, just cows and slow Harleys (which become a distant speck in my rear view)

its true that there is no a more free feeling than what you get from riding a bike. on the other hand you see crotch rockets everywhere and there is nothing that sets them apart. take a stock fd, it stands out just parked outside a McDonalds! lol

For some it might be for the "looks" or for the "chicks" or about "being exclusive". I don't know about some of you, but its therapy for me.

I too am currently looking for a FD and contemplating selling the bike.
