Secondary Boost Problems -- Survey!

With all the posts regarding low secondary boost patterns, many forum members have corrected their issues and regained proper boost from the secondary turbo.

I'm curious to hear just "what" the solutions/problems turned out to be.

Maybe if we get enough feedback, there can be a clearer picture of what the actual causes and solutions have been.

So, if you have had a boost pattern problem with your secondary as the issue, what did you find and how did you correct it? And, how long so far, has the correction worked?

Thanks for any input.

Low secondary boost and boost pattern problems are two very different issues. Bottom line there are indeed a lot of vacuum/pressure lines, solenoids, check valves, actuators, pressure/vacuum storage tanks, plus a CRV and blowoff valve (not to mention the turbos themselves or pressure leaks, etc.) The good news is that how they all work and how to trouble shoot the entire system can be found in these threads! It's an amazing system when working properly!

Still, many forum members have had problems with their secondary turbos boosting and quite a few of them have figured it out and corrected the problems.

I'm just curious as to what they finally found and corrected.

thanks

Was it all of those or did you address all three and end up back in line?

Did a complete vacuum hose job. Checked each solenoid. Replaced check valves, tested the vaccum and pressure chambers, replaced the WG and Pre-control solenoids, and while I was in there replaced the FPD and had the injectors cleaned and balanced by RC engineering and installed Damiens's manual boost controller set up. Problem solved.

Recently replaced stock ECU with PFC and lost my secondary boost again. Went through all of the Autosport site checks and it was good such as KOKO test, actuators, CRV, pressure, vacuum and pressure checks. I will have to figure it out this spring when I get her out of winter storage. I plan on checking the solenoids again and double checking the harness wires I cut for the Power FC.

I had 10 pounds till the secondary should come on and then it would literally flat line. checked all vacume lines, solenoids, actuaters, everything. Finally found the problem to be a clogged main cat. I got my boost back up just by unbolting the cat from the pre-cat. Once I replaced the cat and put on a DP, back to 10-8-10.

Does the vacuum reading tell anything about the turbos? Seems like it would rule out vac leaks if the vac reading is strong when not under boost, Right?
