Saw this scanning the Japan Yahoo auction site.

^^i think he meant in the case of a motor mount failure this set-up would not pull out the inner fender, like the other ones that bolt on other side by ABS.

i like that set up IMO.

I meant by safer as some people had the UIM separate from the lower due to torque from a place that wasn't suppose to have it with the standard engine torque braces out there.

I never saw or read direct evidence of this, only people worrying about it.

Looks like it will put all the stress through the alternator bracket, which will probably bend. They are on the right path. If it connected to the front housing where the engine lift hook is located, it would be better.

Well I have some evidence. A torque brace mounted to the UIM "WILL" put more pressure on the LIM mounting studs and LIM gasket section. Under normal driving conditions you may never experience any problems with that location however, if taken to the strip and violent wheel hop is experienced, the load/unload (think of how an impact wrench works) forces will cause the entire drive train shake. This puts a tremendous amount of stress on the engine mounts, tranny mounts, diff mounts, and the torque brace mounted to the UIM. Since the torque brace is designed to keep the engine from rotating, the forces have to go somewhere. The LIM mounting surface. In my case excessive wheel hop at the strip caused a small leak in my LIM. After the run, I lost a little vacuum and was like WTF. Then I remembered about my torque brace. I then grabbed some carb cleaner and sprayed at the base of my LIM and guess what....the engine stumbled.

Anyways, I really like this new design. I would rather have a damaged alternator bracket than a possible crack/leak in my LIM.

Edit: I just realized that I'm the one that posted that info on the other thread. Car still runs great with the small the leak.

While it is "safer" than the typical location, that bracket is pretty flimsy for a torque brace. I can't see it effectively doing it's job. On the positive note, it probably has enough flex in it to make NVH negligible.

Why don't people get good motor mounts and be done with it? Or at least make sure that your mounts are in tip-top shape before installing what IMO is a bandaid.

This was from my own two eyes (from https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...=397032&page=3):

And yes I know it's cast aluminum
