You call your speedometer/tachometer/etc a clock? I don't think anyone has ever tried it.

It will NOT work, at least not with out extensive work. The rx8 uses a obdII ecu and sends those signals to the gauge cluster. The fd is neither obdI nor OBD II,so I really don't even think it is possible to use them. Might want to talk to someone who specializes in clusters, but I would imagine that is going to cost a small fortune and just isnt worth it. Better off get a 99 or 2002 cluster if you are looking for an updated look.

How would you go about installing them?

It might be an interesting project for someone who has converted their car to obd2..if that is the problem (a certain engine swap accomplishes this).

The Rx-8 gauges get their info from the CAN-bus, which is just a computer network inside the car. The rx-8's ecu sends the signals to the dash and "tells" it where the gauges need to be. It can be done if you had an ecu that allowed you to send CAN messages and also allowed you you to give them custom addresses. A Pectel SQ6 can do this and any of the Bosch motorsport ECUs.

so pressumably the only genuine way it'll work if you have a completely one off custom car.. custom tune etc, i honestly dont see the cost effect of getting a tuned ecu for the sole purpose to use the rx8 cluster... even tho i think its sexy lookin haha..

It's funny you say that, whenever I want to know what time it is I always look at my tachometer.
