RX7Store Downpipe question

http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/dpfd3s.htm

Is this a China one? Is it the same stuff on Ebay? It's $100 cheaper than the name brand ones.

Anyone try it? How thick is it? Will it melt?

Thanks!

Dude,

Do a search on some of those Ebay DP's. More than one person has reported that they have deformed on them after only a few thousand miles. ie MELT!

When I think of "melting," I think of a puddle on the floor.

"Yield" would be a better description of metal deforming from heat or stress.

Thin mild steel would do just that...

lol, I was just picturing a puddle of molten downpipe under the car.

That is actually the first time I have heard of those DP's deforming, but I wouldn't doubt it. Usually the worst case scenario involves grinding the flange holes out a bit to get the DP to fit correctly. I have an ebay midpipe on my car and it works fine, but it doesn't get as hot and it is almost a straight section of SS pipe with some standard exh. flanges on each end. (you can't mess that up). To be honest, it is actually a nice piece with thick walls and flanges, and nice welds.

I wouldn't worry too much about the one from RX7store.net, they generally don't sell crap. And I would bet that they would offer a replacement if it did deform or 'melt'. lol

I ordered one of these rx7store downpipes after reading some good comments about it on the forum. I took it to Paul at Rotorysports in Santa Clara and he told me the pipe looks and feels like one of the cheap ebay ones. It didn't fit very well and he was also concerned that the flange was thin compared to the nicer ones such as Pettit. Anyone else feel this way? Paul installed it for me anyway and he said it took alot of adjusting to make it fit okay.

I am not a fan of rx7store, they take too long to ship imo. However I will say this, they don't sell second rate crap there. Everything I have ever bought from them (around the tune of 6-7k worth of items) has been top quality. It just took forever and a day for me to receive it, which is why I'm not a fan.

I have no clue what DP is on my car. I assume it's rx7store, but it might be Greddy or HKS or Ebay, I don't know. Either way, it's heat-wrapped and the weld quality is very good. The steel is thick, and there hasn't been any yeilding or puddles of molten downpipe

I second Fendamonkey's comments about rx7store. Their prices are great, the quality is there, but their service is lacking.

I have one, used it, and would say that as far as quality is concerned they are excellent. As far as fitment is concerned, it is much easier to get to some of the bolts that hold the downpipe to the turbos than some others i have installed. Good piece!

Theirs is the ebay DP, I have compared the two side by side. Same deal with their manifolds, straight off ebay with a Tial flange welded on. If you want cheap , poor fitting DPs save your money and buy it on ebay, that is what they are doing.

I love it when other shops chime in. We dont purchase our downpipes or manifolds off ebay. Fact is they work and fit well at a great price.
If you like I can comment on some of your high quality parts you peddle that we have had the pleasure of installing.

Please do..

You didn't even bother to change the picture. Judge for yourselves, same cheap parts, just $175 more expensive:

I guess you don't remember admitting that you peddle SS autochrome (ebay) manifolds? Post # 23

I don't purchase them from ebay. If that picture is the same from ebay so what. I have installed some of the ebay downpipes and most dont fit. We have not had an issue with ours as many have posted above. Thanks for your input.

I have used some of the SS autochrome manifolds in the past but dont currently use them. Again thanks for your input Douche Bag.

If someone wants to purchase a $49 DP and MP then go for it. It might fit and then again it might not. I pay a lot more for ours and know they fit as we have installed many of them.

Wow, that was called for and super professional on your part. You are still pushing the same manifolds with all your turbo kits, there is no reason to lie.

I have pictures of your DP as well, notice the thin flanges

Man you just dont give up. The picture on our site is like 3 years old. We also use different wastegates now. Big F'in deal. WTF is your point?

What part of the posts above that said they have no problems with our DP do you not understand?

I sell a part that is cheap, fits and does the same damn thing as a $300 HKS DP.

In my experience there are many downpipes that appear similar, but the fit greatly varies. I would feel more secure purchasing a part from a reputable vendor rather than ebay. Most shops test fit their products. Can't say the same for all ebay vendors who get them off the shelf from a warehouse.

It is intersting to read the bickering. I would like to inform the OP that not all stainless is created equally. Depending on the construction for the material will determine the life expectancy. You will need to find one with 304L or 320L stainless. The L indicates the low carbon composition of the metal. The lower the carbon in stainless the less likely it is to turn that "gold" color, I mean rust over time.
