Hi guys im new to the forum and I'm already having problems with my rx7 that I just got.
Well the problem is that the car is slow. It feels slower than my friend's accordv6. I've already search on the forum about blown apex seal and found out it cant be that because the car starts/idles perfect. So what can be the problem? Thx

1) your probably not boosting right, or at all. get a boost gauge and find out. pattern should be ABOUT 10-8-10
2) bad idle is only one of the symptoms of a bad motor. the only way to really find out is to get a compression check.
hope this helps!

Welcome to the forum!! Read as much as possible, use the search feature, and good luck with your new fd.
I would do a boost gauge like mentioned earlier. It is normal for the car to take a few minutes before it is up to operating temperature. Just drive it nice and easy untill it warms up.

Not alot of info sounds like a boost problem like others said though. After you are done driving it, look under your car and see if you anything glowing bright red under there, if your cat is clogged then it should glow bright red. A clogged cat can prevent boost, or at least keep it very low to like 3 psi. This is what was wrong with mine when I bought it.
Unfortunately it could be a number of things with a 3rd gen (FD) ..more than likely a boost problem as earlier stated. When I first got my FD (it was stock) I thought it was "kinda" fast but not like I was hoping. I'd never driven one before this. I drove it for 2 years with it being pretty much a dog. I took it up to KDR and he found the problem in 1 minute - a torn lower intercooler hose. The stock rubber hoses coming out of the intercooler are very prone to cracking from heat and only last about 60K miles. He put a used one on along with plugs, wires, and a new fuel filter and the car (to me) felt like a Lamborghini - it wasn't getting any boost since it was all going out the tear in the hose. Check this first since this is a very quick fix. Then do the boost gauge, plugs and wires, fuel filter, and downpipe... the precat has a tendancy to clog also. A silicone vacuum line replacement with zip ties can also eliminate boost problems. Could also be a solenoid. Start with these things and see what you come up with. Good luck.
It's never fast enough...

Any mechanical boost gauge should do him fine, at least to help him figure out if he has boost problems or not. And my autometer works fine, although some people claim after thousands of miles of use that they tend to become off by a little, but never had that problem myself.
