On the fans, I have a thread on how the fans work. Short version, the ECU can control one fan speed, and there is a thermoswitch in the back of the thermostat housing that controls another. You can upgrade to the 89-91 FC thermoswitch to lower that fan turn-on point from 107 deg. C to 97 deg. C. Most people set the ECU temp in the PowerFC to 85 C or so. My car typically runs about mid-80's on a typical day, it will get into the 90's on a really hot day, AC on, slow traffic.

@DaleClark Is this the thermoswitch you are referring to? I just want to be sure I order the correct one. This is from Atkins Rotary.

That's the correct part. Ray Crowe probably has it cheaper than that.

Here is the readings I get from the sensor check.
The VMOP only shows 1.19V and when I rev the engine it barely moves to about 1.34V to about 1.45V. Should I be concerned or is that normal operation? I think the range is 1 - 5V during normal operation.

Or should I be premixing just to be safe due to a possible faulty OMP?

Cheers.

The yellow and black vac line is what runs to the oil injectors. (Ts out to two lines). Fed from the turbo air inlet. The oil lines themselves from the OMP seems to have oil in them.

A faulty OMP will typically show up as a reverse highlighted row on the Commander. Similar to how the Fuel is highlighted in the picture.

The OMP's really are hardy and work well as long as the wiring and plumbing for it is all hooked up and good. It can be beneficial to mix a small amount of premix just to make the engine happier, though.

Thanks a lot Dale as always.

I did premix just to be safe. And the fuel is highlighted since I switched to the rywire harness and the fuel temp sensor isn’t plugged in. (No plug for it)

To be sure and for the break-in of the engine I will continue to premix the fuel.

Hey,

Been a while since I posted. Anyone interested in the entire build can check out @modzcity on IG. I will also try to post up a build thread and share all the pics on this forum.

Thanks for everyone's help. The car is doing ok and about to be tuned.

Cheers

Did some preliminary tuning last night and something interesting happened. We tune the car on the road with the laptop hooked up to the Apexi PFC with the adapter. Everything was set and the car ran great. We stopped at a shopping mall for a quick bite to eat. When we left the car in the parking lot the coolant temp was 88 degrees C. We went to the restaurant for about 45 mins and came back to the car. Weirdly the car wouldn't start up and we checked the coolant temp, it was 105 degrees C!!!! Now how is that possible? Or is something drastically wrong with the cooling system - air in the coolant? other issues?

Thanks guys. I might post this up in the Cooling section as well since this thread hasn't been updated in a while.

Cheers

Normal for heat soak. Your engine is hot, then you turn it off and no more coolant is flowing so it heat soaks. Pretty normal, as soon as you start it it would drop 20 degrees C I bet

That's exactly right. Once it started up the temps went to about 92 degrees

Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

Cheers

Nope, not unless you install an electric water pump kit and have it set to run for a few minutes with the fans after shut down. Opening the hood helps a little bit. But otherwise it’s just normal, all cars do it. Stock gauge just doesn’t haven’t numbers so most people never notice. Lol
