Rx7 a bust

Hey guys i posted a thread awhile ago about me getting an rx7 from this lady in palm beach florida, well after speaking to her and letting her know that i would purchase the car but i wanted to take it to petit racing for them to check it over before the transaction would be completed. Turns out she was upset that i didn't just take her word for it so i was like peace out lady, you shouldn't have a problem if the vehicle is in good condition like you say. Long story short my quest will continue to find my 7.

On another topic how bad would it be to buy an automatic? and then would i be getting humiliated by other cars on the track

Forget the temptation of the cheap price, get a five speed.

That was a good decision, she must have been hiding something like you suggest. Don't waste your time with an auto, you will be kicking yourself for it afterward.

Don't Do it!! You will want a 5 speed it is just a matter of months/weeks/ maybe days or hours. Then when you want to change it will be a hassle.

I bought an automatic to transplant parts in, including my old 5 speed.

If it wasn't for picking up the car so damn cheap I'd be really hating it. I am anyway because it's a hassle and selling some automatic parts is like selling shares of Enron.

Not worth it, the price is tempting, but keep looking! The automatics are dogs.

I'm going to have to agree with the other members of the fourm and say don't even think about getting an auto. what were you thinking when you posted that? infact go ahead and kick your *** for saying that!!

what did the lady say exactly? have you seen the car? did anything look strange or out of place? what were your impressions of the car?

Matt

Buy the car you want. Don't settle for something you don't really want. You will regret it later.

The lady was like the car has been babied and maintained i have all the paper work to prove it. She was the original owner but after she said she had all the reciepts and i asked to have a copy for my records she started giving excuses. So i offered to make sure that car was in pristine condition that we take it to petit. She took that as me being insulting. WHATEVER if i am buying the car i want to make sure that it is ok. She was also IFFY about test driving the car. Long story short it sounded nice on the phone but when seeing it in person (yellow 7) she was full of SH**.

Typical Women driven RX7s= abused and neglected. This guy on Corvetteforum brought one for his wife and it was driven from idle until 3000 rpms only. (which I think can cause carbon buildup and caused him to do a premature engine rebuild)

Don't fall for the 'insulted' thing. I had a guy try to write me a personal check when he bought my 1st Gen. He took great offense but I told him no cashier's check no car. Told me no one had ever refused to take his personal check. What a bunch of crap! I don't know him from jack and I'd never take a personal check for that amount from anyone

Good thing you walked, sounds like there may have been some issues with the car. Why else would she be hesitant to let you test drive it? I would walk immediately from any car that the owner would not let me test drive unless I was knowingly buying a non-running/roadworthy car.
