rear bumper head shield...

Does anyone know where I can find a rear bumper heat shield...either carbon fiber or i guess brushed aluminum. The exhaust is making some nasty marks on the bumper.

Could you have the exhaust brackets bent at a muffler shop to put it father away form the bumper?

I don't think it would matter... My friend told me last night that I shot a 3 foot flame for like 5 seconds straight. I just got done doing a little clay bar to get the burn marks off the bumper yesterday. I've seen a lot of cars that have them.

What kind of marks? Do you mean soot left on the bumper? Or something else? If it is soot, then I don't think a heat shield will make any difference.

It's soot on some parts, that doesn't bother me too much. But right above the exhaust it gets pretty brown...almost black. It's just a pain in the *** to clean. Im sure it wouldn't be to easy to clean off the shield either, but it will be easier on the bumper.

Is this a common problem on all fds?

On my MB car with downpipe, hi flo cat , and stock catback, I'm getting discoloration and a weird runny look in the paint above the exhaust.

On my dad's Silver car with just dowpipe, he's getting discoloration also.

FDs run so rich that when you have an open exhaust some fuel will dump straight in, causing it to ignite and shoot some flames. Rotarys in general are known for this. It's especially common when there are no catalytic converters.

I've seen people make their own heat shield out of aluminum. It's easy to work with so it may be worth a shot.

Yeah I think they are located in Maryland. I might get ahold of those guys. Jason at Jt-imports could probaly get ahold of those Attain carbon guards. I think it would look nice on silver.

Scrub, Jason at JT-Imports quoted a little over $300 for the Attain Bumper Guard. Unfortunately, that's quite about twice as much as I had planned to spend on something like this.

woah that is pretty expensive. Maybe I will just do a little clay bar action on the bumper and a couple coats of wax every few weeks.
