RX-7 potential owner- need help

Ok guys. I need some help and advice. I Have been chasing this RX-7 for about 4 years. The owner would put it out for sale randomly and i would try to figure out how to purchase it. Anyway i went to do a house call to fix a heater and here it is sitting in the dudes driveway. I was excited to see if he still wanted to sell it. However there is a catch. Once i get closer to the car. It seems His wife had a minor accident and hit a reflector pole thing that we have around here by bridges... anyway. I asked if he wanted to sell and he said he doubted if i wanted it in its condition. I said yea

First things first here is what i know
-1993 Twin Turbo RX-7
-5speed
-Leather, BOSE,CD-changer
-Peter Ferrel Performance chip (I was told the "purple box" whatever that means)
-Peter ferrel intercooler with stock mount position
-peter Ferrel Downpipe
-Peter Ferrel CAT-Bak
-Upgraded clutch
-Moon Roof
-86k miles with engine rebuilt at 75k
Approx. 3 years ago he was asking 13K when it had no body damage.

THE DAMAGE-
From what me and a buddy could tell, It needed
-1 Rim and 4 new tires
-Possible suspension damage of front end
-Left door needs new door skin
-Frnt left fender needs replacing
-new left headlight (possibly)
-Possibly new radiator

So what do you guys think? is it worth it to purchase my dream car? What would be a fair offer? what is the car worth etc. What should i expect in cost of fixing it. What else should i expect/think about? This wont be my DD ( i have a mazda6 for that) so i can fix it slowly. Thanks for your time that it took to read this. Any help/insight would be appreciated. Also what model is it? im unfamiliar with the model codes and such. THNX

At 86k miles, you're going to want to start looking at doing the suspension bushings. They tend to wear out between 60-80k miles.

You'll need to be wary and ready to replace any and all engine bay plastics. This is including, but not limited to, the FPD, FPR, AST, Radiator, all coolant hoses, any intake/intercooler pipes, solenoids and vac lines.

I suggest you familiarize yourself with every aspect of your "dream car"(which you seem to know dick **** about) long before trying to purchase one. You've been chasing the car for 4 years, if you started studying when you first saw it, you'd be prepared to make an educated decision by now...

If you decide to ignore my advise, just remember the initial purchase of an RX-7 is the cheapest part of ownership.

i would offer 10k based on his asking price of 13k when it was it better shape.

its a touring model --> BOSE, sunroof, leather

before buying take it to a good rotary shop and have them do a compression and cooling system leak down / exhaust-carbons-in-coolant-test.

When i was originally interseted a few years ago we just couldnt meet up an all that jazz. Today was actually the first time i had gotten any info about what he had done to it. Anyway i was informed that he had indeed taken in to a shop in tucson called -rx for your 7- where he had the lines replaced and engine redone. new seals, gaskets port and pollish etc. Apparently he had the aftermarket stuff done at this point. approx 10K in parts n' labor was quoted. What am i looking at in parts plus labor? I already am up for taking it into a shop and getting it totally fixed, buyin parts at at time etc.

^^ if someone offered me 6k for a running FD I would not sell it to them out of principle. It's one thing to try and get a good deal it's another to straight out insult someone.

Yes the FD is and old car now but don't forget it is a *very* sought out car... I was thinking 10k is low balling but then again I do live in cali.

Yea i talked to the guy again. What bigwillie said was what i told him. I told him that i would do my research and come back with a price. that i wasnt sure what i would come up with or that i could give him all he needed but that i didnt want to insult him with a stupid low price. Here in southern AZ they are fairly rare. I will continue to read and run the numbers. thanks for the info. It is helping guys!
