RX-7 FD / RX-8 - What is compatible?
Hi all.
Did a search, but could not find anything on this topic.
I have a RX-8 chassis sitting here complete with engine (high power), 6 speed, complete suspension, etc... No doors, roof (-was chopped off by fire dep in a drill). The car has 3300 km on it, and "purrs like a kitten".
What is the compatible, desireable parts on this for a FD? I have a FD with T78, and some other mods. Is there any parts that are stock on the 8 that will fit the FD? 6 speed (-I have heard they are weaker, but will it fit?) Prop shaft? Suspension? Brakes (they look huge on the 8).
Anyont with thoughts?
Thank you for your futuRE posts

I wonder if the ignition system is compatible, and it might be nice to use the RX-8's electric air pump instead of the factory mechanical one. The steering wheel should swap over, as well as the shift ****. That's about it. You might be able to retrofit the headlights if you're good at fabricating brackets. H.I.D. was an option, you might want that if your RX-8 has it.
Good luck,

I dont understand why mazda built the rx8 the way they did. The thing makes decent HP, but max hp is at 8500 rpms, which is just rediculous. It also makes very little torque compared to the HP. The rx8 feels like my mom's sentra would if it had a 9k revline.

I would think that the driveline is a better candidate for a FC Vert than a FD.
The FD already has the performance parts that it needs, but the vert could use the help.
It would be nice to see someone make the plunge and find out what it takes to put the 8 driveline into the FC.

I say donate the motor to a rotary specialist to see what they can come up with. In the long run that might be the only motor we are going to be able to put into our 7's!!!

yes the rotors can be used - this was told to me by Rick Engeman in the presence og Dr. Ianetti and Jim Mederer. he said something about turning them around that i did not comprehend.
