NOPE. With bigger injectors, you would need a stand alone ECU. If you don't want to do that, then get an aftermarket fuel pump, Fuel pressure regulator and a piggy back fuel controller.

What are you using to determine if you are running lean or not?

Good question. Did you use a wideband lambda o2 sensor with the car on a dyno?

The apex'i tt a/f meter measures voltage at the stock o2 sensor. The stock o2 sensor is about as accurate as throwing a dart at a dartboard blindfolded. I wouldn't put much stock in that, although it is definitely better than nothing. Also, what are you smelling to make you think you're running lean? A *much* better test is to remove your spark plugs (one at a time), take some pictures and post them. A dark soot on the plugs indicates richness, while a white indicates lean and a nice brown color is what you want to see.

After blowing a motor sky high, I determined to stop ******* around and have my 7 tuned the right way. It's a helluva lot cheaper than a blown motor, that's for damn sure

Also, what mods do you have?

This is the same reason I bought the apex TT, because it had an A/F gauge on it. Problem is that in the instructions, if you have a car that has a titanium O2 sensor('94 S13 SR20DET is an example) OR if your car's A/F mixture is lower than 13:1 at idle(ALL rotary's is an example) then the A/F gauge will be inaccurate.

...so my question is: How do you smell LEAN?

Slap forhead! For god sakes, don't use the stock O2 meter to measure A/F ratio!

BTW: how do you smell that you are running lean, if you are leaning out, you won't smell anything because you will be using up all the fuel!

You can use a SuperAFC or any other fuel computer to blip your fuel up a bit safely but if you have heavy mods, you should get a PowerFC or any other standalone computer.

Good luck

well the best way i can describe it is a sweet smell, not like coolant.. kinda blandish.. im kinda bad at describing it so i dun't know.. but last week i was at the local races and there was a 300zx TT there and we were cruising around and i could smell he was running a lean too cuss i asked him.. his was way worse then mine..

if i ran just a little lean will it affect the motors reliability..

i can either fix this problem or start working on the reliability mods like a new dp and radiator.. which one do u think is the best?

do u guys know of any shops around So kali/Oc that do dynos wit fuel pressure gauges like the guy on top said for cheap?

75 bucks for that kinda test sounds pretty cheap..

thanx guys for the replies i really appreciate it

That's right...FPR goes on the return line.

I would fix the problem first, if you got a busted engine, why would you want to make it more reliable (sp?)? Anyways, why don't you just buy a fuel pressure gauge (they only cost about 60-70 bucks)?

So how again does a lean car smell? And how did the 300zx guy know he was lean? I'm still puzzled on how you know how a lean car smells!
