Hello Boys and Girls,

I had to pull my last motor because of a faulty coolant seal ..now with my new engine, I was thinking of ways (..in addition to using Di/distilled water), of preventing corrosion in the system.

Anyone ever tried using in addition to your antifreeze & Di Water, ... an Oxygen Scavenger ???

..It canīt rust if there is no oxygen ..duh !

I am going to do some pilot testing with some old coolant seals to see if there are any effects on the seals themselves and I will post results...but if anyone has heard or tried this, please post some comments.

We use oxygen scavengers offshore to prevent corrosing on the pipe in the ground, there is some testing that can be done to determine if the enviroment can support corrosion ..ie sulfide residual testing with a Garret Gas Train ( nothing to do with turbos :-)

The only thing is, a 5 gal keg of KD700 Oxygen scavenger is $170 USD and a drum of XCIDE 320 is about $1200 USD !! ..but thatīs oilfield prices..
