running 12's

ive read some old threads about quarter mile potential with mods. but they have been for all the boltons. right now i only have a dp, intake and hi-flo cat. is that enough to get into the 12's?
my only other time at the track, w/o the hi-flo, i ran a 13.4 at 102, w/ a 1.99 60ft.
im a decent driver i guess. neway can i break the 12's with the addition of the cat

I don't think you will be in the 12's on street tires and stock boost.

Get an ECU, turn up the boost a bit, buy some drag radials and you'll be there no problem.

I think a good driver should get into the 12's with a high flow cat, and a catback. The stock muffler is pretty restrictive, and you didn't say that you have replaced it.

i havent replaced it yet. but i do have a reprogrammed ecu. its from rotary performance and is tunned for all the boltons and 1 bar of boost. i didnt think it was a good idea to put it in yet b/c i dont have the other mods and i thought it would be make my a/f super rich if i ran at 11 or 12 lbs.
am i wrong?

Running a little rich won't hurt anything.

i thought running too rich ruins a cat.
i guess i could try putting it in and seeing if i can borrow someones wideband and trying it out. i wish i had cash for a dyno, to really tell the difference

dumping the stock cat back will save 35-45 lb. The weight loss is going to help alot in the 1/4 plus the power it adds. With my car i went 12.3 @ 116 with only 324 hp. My friend made 313 with full exhaust, intake, tunable ecu, and small stock mount @ 12 pis. I guess it all depends on have strong your motor is and how you drive it. That is just my 2 cents. Good luck.
