i have one where the metal thing just past away and i can't put my screw in. They don't seem to be able to get it at mazda dealership.

I did a search on Google seems like lots of places to get them....

The part # is C-440 for the one used with the scuff plates

I'm glad you posted this thread... I lost one of mine in the body when installing my scuff plates... now I just need to get off my butt and get that other one in...

I did the same damn thing...

However, mine is still on the end of the screw, just pushed through the hole. I haven't gotten my lazy butt out there to pull it back through...

Finally...

Finally got off my butt and found some Wellnuts...

Found them at Ace Hardware.

Ended up getting some 20-832 Wellnuts and some 8-32 X 5/8" stainless screws. I got some pan head screws but got some oval head also... I think I'm going to contersink the holes and use the oval heads...

Couldn't find theh c-440 part... metric maybe?

I couldn't find the exact replacement either. I found some wellnuts that would do the trick from Westlake Hardware.

Not sure the part number since they are out in the garage (apartment complex for the next few months).

The threads didn't go all the way through on the wellnut, I had to force the screw through the first time. I did that before I mounted it, and then it was fine.

Are you guys talking about the aluminum scuff plates or the stock plastic?

Mine are aluminum. I have no idea if they were stock on the car or not.

They are factory Mazda accessories and don't come with the car. MazdaFormance has them for $135.

I believe most of those "factory accessories" you could have ordered or added to the car when purchased new.

Whether or not mine came on the car when it was purchased new or not, there is only one person that knows and it's not anyone here.
