RPM Tachometer

I was jump start my car and my RPM tachometer went all the way up to the right and now stays there.I try couple things like disconnection the battery tryin to reset with no success, This means is dead ? I have the original cluster on a 93 lhd with a MicroTech ecu. Thanks

So the car is running normally but the tach is pegged out? What value does the tach show? Maybe a picture?

Going to be a pain to get to, but you probably just need to open the cluster up and push the needle so it flips back to the zero mark. There may have been a voltage spike or something and when it gets all the way at that end it can get stuck.

You would VERY CAREFULLY just push the needle counter clock wise back over to the zero. But you have to pull the cluster to do it which is fun .

Faulty tachs are very common and often caused by issues with the circuit boards. Some people touch up the connections with solder. Other people send their clusters to Michael Gagne (recommended).

If your gauge cluster is very old (it is) good idea to send to Michael for a tune up, regardless.
