Question Rotary Noob question! Plz Help!

Hi! I live in germany and want to import a rx7 and wanna tune it, but i am not confirmed with tuning except the boost levels of that rotary engine.
So first of all i wanna know what is the max psi of turboboost i can run safely on a stock engine?
First:
I wanna install a high flow catback, a 3" catback exhaust system (maybe the Apexi N1), the Apexi PowerFC (has it also the boost controller function?, wanna run 2 boost setups ), Greddy intake system. (What will be approximately the rwhp number? @10 psi and @ 12 psi??? )
Second:
I wanna install a t78 greddy turbo kit, and fuel upgrades from rx7store.
(What will be the estimated rwhp at 8, 12 and 15psi?)
My target is running 8 psi with maybe 240 rwhp and 320 rwhp at maybe 12 psi! Is it possible?

THNX for any replies and for any help or advice!!!

you need to do alot more research if you are asking questions like this....

maybe search through old topics on the forums...or search google for some websites.

better get out the flame suit....

You've got a lot more detailed planning to do.

I suggest you thoroughly read the newbie FAQ here, and all the links in the alphabetical list that pertain to the mods you mentioned. Then do some searches to further learn more about those parts. Finally, check out some dyno sheets and mod lists to figure out how 240rwhp and 320rwhp are actually attained.

Thnx alot! This helped alot and i am going to understand more and more how the rotary engine is working and what i have to do!
Man i am sorry that i have been so "foolish".
But i still wanna know from u do u personally have the oppinion that it is a good idea to buy a rx7 build in 93/94 ?
I have read they have some probs, so i have to change the vacuum hoses, get a downpipe, a boost pressure; water temp; oil pressure gauge (maybe A/F gauge), oil and fuel filter, the transmission and differ. fluids, maybe the radiator and AST, the sonsors (o2, watertemp, oil, etc.), and so on and so on... i think i havent forgotten much
Do i need everything to get the car more or less reliable? I know it is a "fun" sportscar and i really want it but i even heard some of those horror stories about this nice car........
What shall i do. I think all parts will cost about 2500$ right?

Thnx for any post, advice and help!

You're hardly a fool. We get plenty of noobies who still ask the same questions after being shown the FAQs and old threads.

I've done most of the reliability mods myself, and have spent less than $2k so far on parts. (Probably another $1k on tools, but that's another story).

If this is not a daily driver, (which with the price of petrol in Germany I hope it's not) then I think you can make a very reliable 'fun' car. If you've done the reliability mods, then you've had the chance to really poke around and get to know the car. You'll become very aware of what is normal and not normal. 93/94 FDs are great cars, but only if you are up to the task of staying ahead on maintenance and not abusing it.

yeah! I know the reliability mods are a must and ure right it shall be a reliabil fun car cause we have to pay for vpower from shell for example about 1.50$ per liter! ;(
So i think i will do most of the modsby myself but my can i do this even if i am not a mechanic? Just started mech. engeneering but a friend of my is a mechanic so... hope this will work. No one here really know much about rotaries, this means it shall be another problem... we will see I am optimistic!

But about the engine? I hae heard some people rebuilding it after hard drives or about 80.000 miles right? Why?

After all is another sportscar not even more reliable than the rx7, i dont wanna make people become angry, dont missunderstand me please i really like rx7s and iam really interestet in it but i am a student and dont have much money so i hav to look.

In another forum i've read that no one can do anything on this car if do not heve enough experience especially with rotaries. is it right?

PS: Will the rx8 also have the same probs after a couple of time and miles?

- Wow, that's like $6/gallon.

- You can do the mods by yourself, and if you have a mechanic friend with access to tools you will be in very good shape. I'm a mechanical engineer, and I find there is plenty of good documentation and I enjoy working on the car.

- The engine will last 80k miles average, if taken care of well. A well cared-for modified car will not last as long, because the higher output adds stress to the engine, and tuning issues make accidental detonation failures possible. If you and your friend started using an ECU, you may find tuning to be most difficult.

- Anyone can do anything with this car in a sense, if they have enough money

- RX-8 is much more reliable owing to its design refinements and non-turbo aspiration. Compared to other sports cars, the FD is not very good with reliability. You can do preventative maintenance to avoid many on-track failures, but this car is not sturdy like a Supra for example.
