I had the same problem. I ended up goin with the feed kit. Anyways, I did double check the clearance of the duct and even switched out my koyo for a fluidyne...still wouldn't allow the prop to seat on the latch.

Mines a 94...maybe there's a slight difference??? Anyways this was a super easy solution to the hood prop for me.

P.S. Notice how I stuck up for chuck on the halfwit wanting to copy his IC? : )
I'm getting one because my hood prop is in my passenger seat.

Where did you see that he offers different damper kits for CF hoods? On his website under this product I didn't see anything to indicate this. Thanks.

The aftermarket radiator probably had something to do with it, and now that I think about it, I also moved my radiator down and back about 1 5/8" with Trev Dagley's billet sway bar/radiator relocation kit. Never mind.

You can't purchase those hood dampers from the group buy link anymore. The group buy was over 2 months ago.

Now the hood damper kit comes with both sides. I don't offer the single side anymore.

You can use the damper kit with both the stock hood and aftermarket hood. If your aftermarket hood is a lot lighter than the stock one, I have the softer damper to work with light weight hood but I don't keep a lot of those dampers in stock. When you order, just mention you want the softer dampers. Most aftermarket hoods are not a lot lighter than stock so the regular damper will work just fine. Unless your hood is like 12-14 lbs, you don't want to use the softer damper.

When you pop the hood open half way, it will go up by itself. When you close the hood half way, it will just drop by itself. You don't need a lot of force to open or close the hood because I choose the right rate of damper for the job. You don't have to push the hood close. You can just drop it close if you wish.

There is no application for the FC at this time.

You can drop it close when you close the hood half way You can't do that on Sonny's car because he got hood pins and the pins don't line up with the holes on the hood too well.

This damper kit is just like any of those OEM ones that come with the cars.

Jimlab....no you will have to push gently on the hood to close, you cannot just drop it to close.

Chuck, I placed my order for one today. Please make sure you send the dampers appropriate for your Carbon N1 hood. Thanks.

Chuck,

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't mean to link to the Group Buy so that people would try and join...it was just to show that you offer different dampers, one for the stock hood and one for a much lighter hood. Now I gotta try and figure out how much my CF hood weighs lol

The rotary extreme website domain has expired. That sucks, I knew I should have bought these earlier. Does anybody know if the website just changed or if I can buy them somewhere else?

Rotary Extreme went out of business atleast 2 years ago, maybe 3 years ago, not too long after this thread was started. You may be able to find a used set or a second hand set that someone never got around to installing, but your best bet would be to buy the Tein hood damper kit.

i would recommend the NRG dampers only because i dont like the green.

you can get them in polished or carbon fiber look. i got the polished and love them.

i shopped around the internet and got them for the same as the last group buy i saw.

Makes me feel fortunate. My FD had the RE Hood dampers when I bought it. It was a while before I realized that it wasn't standard equipment. I would really miss not having them.

I just got a set of hood dampers in town from a local shop. Real small shop, the owner is a good guy. They don't really have any brand markings on them but they work great. I got a really good deal on them too. Carbon fiber wrapped shafts, two dampers in the kit. The fit was perfect. Doesn't rub at all. Two stages on the damper too, so it won't just slam it up. It goes up quick initially and then slows down at the end.

I know the website is a little sketch, but the contact information is current. I'll try to get some pics and post them later.

Here the pics of the dampers. Retail is 120 for the carbon fiber and I think it was 100 for just metal.

The only thing I don't like about these and most of the other kits is, they only use a single bolt for the hood plate. The Rotary Extreme hood damper kit used two, just seems like a more stable design. But like you said, they are no longer available.

Just FYI for those of you with RE dampers: Ever notice the the RE dampers cause your hood go out of alignment? The reason for this is that one of the corners on the mounting bracket is actually resting on one of the fender bolts. This edge needs to be ground off of the bracket to keep from pushing against the fender bolts and causing the hood to raise up and misalign at the edges.

I have them installed on my car. Look for post #2716 for pics:

https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...rs#post8944823

They work great and don't cause an alignment issues. Pop the hood latch and they pop right up. Way better than the OEM hood bar!
