Depends alot on what you're racing, if the car isn't very aerodynamic the faster the better. Otherwise, you're best bet is to use a program like gearcalc to figure out what speed is just beyond the max of whatever gear is just below the gear you want to use. IE if you want to race starting in 3rd, run from whatever speed is just past the end of 2nd gear and is in the meat of the power in 3rd. But your opponents car will always dictate what speed is ideal if you're trying to win, you want to catch them somewhere that they'll have to shift and you don't.

there isnt like a sweet spot... in a gear where its right at the start of the powerband... my brother has an auto supra he will only go from a dig or a 60.. he said the car is dead from most any other speeds, unless really low speeds... 60 is his so called sweet spot.

From a roll I find 40mph to work the best. I have done the best when starting from 40mph in 2nd gear. Once you get on the gas, you will have about 1.5 seconds before redline and have to shift into 3rd.
Another trick I found that works well is when you are rolling next to the other guy, do it in third, he will thing you are in a higher gear and sometimes do the same. Just before you go, shift down to second and right into the meat of your powerband, of the guy next to you dosent know what they are doing they will go from 3rd and be stuck below their powerband.

You're still on stock twins? Cause I'd look and see at what mph your second turbo kicks in, then go from right around that speed. From my multiple roll races I've found that going between 40-50mph is just right, but I'm single. I didn't like to go much from 3rd gear since it's only a two gear race and most cars that like to race from 3rd are Supras and they're highway ***** That's why I'm building my new one to pick on Supras
